4th Book Fair organized by the public institution “Pionerski Dom”

If you judge from the pic-

tures that you see on this

page you’ll never guess that

this is a book fair. Well the

traditional book fair that

takes place in “Pionerski

Dom” and which was organ-

ized for the 4th time this

year is usually fill with many

educative and competitive

activities for children such as

flower arraignment contest, creative art workshops, competition in decorating

Easter eggs, open dance lesson classes, games and the traditional parade of

children in masks for April’s fools day which is called “Aprilijada”. In the four

days that the fair was opened many children and parents came to participate in

the activities and see the books from

seven publishing companies that

were for sales.

weekend took part in almost every

activity.

Apollonia Foundation same as last year

sponsored the prices for the Aprils fools

day children carnival, and the other

competitive activities. From each class

from the primary schools and kindergar-

ten that participated in the carnival was

chosen one homemade mask, but the reward which this year was children's

outdoor game ball went to the whole class. You can find more pictures from

Concerts of classical music in Apollonia

It’s becoming a tradition to have the talented children

from the music school in Gevgelija performing in Apollonia at least

twice a year, especially for holidays. On the occasion on Woman’s

day on 9th of March they made special show and once again

showed what they’ve learned in the piano lessons with their pro-

fessor Ljubica Ulisheva. Pieces from Divernua, Berkovic, Bach, Di-

jabeli were performed by thirteen students in one hour classical

music program. Everyone present at the concert enjoyed in the

children's performance and the mom’s got the best present for

woman’s day from their children.

On 16th March in Apollonia Hotel was held the third con-

cert from the classical music program “Gevgelija spring 2010”. For

the first time in Apollonia Hotel the public from Gevgelija had the

pleasure to see piano duo concert which was performed by Valeri

Stefanovski and Jovan Karovski - well known professors in the music

faculty in Skopje. They performed pieces from Ljubomir Brangjolica,

Darius Mijo and George Gershwin. The classical music concerts that

are in the program of the event “Gevgelija musical moments” are in

the foundation program for 2010 and in this years program of the

Ministry of culture.

The Easter concert that is also part of the manifestation “Gevgelija Spring” was held on 1st of April in the

resorts of Apollonia Hotel, on the first day of traditional customs and celebration of Easter. This concert was per-

formed by artists from Gevgelija. We had the pleasure to hear one very young and extremely talented pianist

who is still in high school - Mihail Petkov. He started taking piano lessons when he was nine and after just seven

months practice he went to the international contest Interfest Bitola where he won the second price. He has also

won the second price on international piano contest in Kraguevac and the highest special price on the state com-

petition which proves his brilliant talent. On the Easter concert he performed pieces from Chopin, Brahms, Men-

delssohn, Debussy. What made the program even more solemnly special was the performance of the special

guest star - the city choir “Gortinija” from Gevgelija. With Kedrov, Verbitski and “Alleluia” that gave very nice

Easter atmosphere to the concert.

The next concert in our program is scheduled for 13.04.2010 Tuesday 8 pm, and it will be “Night of fa-

mous opera melodies and duos” performed by the students in the class of prof. Marija Muratovska from the fac-

ulty of music in Skopje and accompanied with prof. Elena Atanasovska on piano.

On 30th of March Macedonia planted trees once

again. This time the planting trees action had the pur-

pose to brake the state borders and differences in the

name of Nature, and to make it a world wide activity that

everyone will join. So for the first time we had govern-

ment representatives from Greece (Polikastro and Bo-

jmica) who together with our people planted trees on

both sides of the border. Gevgelija region planted 20.000

trees: pine wood, cypress, ash wood and this year’s loca-

tion was “Bogorodica hill”.

Apollonia Group as usual supported this action with the presence of the

Apollonia staff, Apollonia Foundation with 42 children of the environ-

mental project Nature Day and other volunteers. It’s our company’s mis-

sion to be an active members of the community, but it’s also a pleasure

and honor to do the right thing for our planet and to show the children

the right example. “We care for nature” is also our Nature Day motto.

Nature Day - activities

The last month in Nature Day educationally was dedi-

cated to the theme: Water, Air, Soil and Energy. We had

workshops, plays, projects and games as fun methods to

teach the children about preserving these important ele-

ments of nature. By the way did you know that:

If you leave the water running while brushing your teeth,

as much as 40 L of water can go down the drain.

Art workshop

Apollonia Foundation with the insurance company

“Croacia osiguruvanje” on 1st April organized art work-

shop on the center of the town in which were included

the children from Nature Day project. The theme was

Nature, the materials were chalk’s and watercolors and

the result was many curios children having a fun crea-

tive afternoon.

FUTURE EVENTS:

2009 Year of many activities

In cooperation with Ramkovski Foundation we

made promotion of the novel “One-way” from the

young author Stefan Markovski (19) – this novel

won the first price of the contest organized by this

foundation.

In June we organized the 8th

traditional art

commune Apollonia in which 10 artist from Mace-

donia, Serbia and Bulgaria participated.

For the 15th

time traditionally we were spon-

sors of the popular Skopje Jazz Festival.

We supported the activities of 3 folk groups

from Gevgelija, the activities of the city choir

Gortinija, the theater group Kabare 6 from Gev-

gelija and the group Synthesis for presenting Ma-

cedonia culture abroad.

We sponsored 3 children from Gevgelija to par-

ticipate in the International piano competition in

Belgrade where they won 1st

and 2nd

place in their

category.

We organized theater show for the citizens of

Gevgelija.

As in the past years we supported the tradi-

tional Guitar contest, the 3rd

Fig festival, and the 3

days Multimedia Art festival, which are very im-

portant traditional events in our community.
