community with the purpose to help socially poor families from Gevgelija and the
local villages, and bring some holiday joy in their houses. In cooperation with the

Holiday charity events
On 5th December in Skopje was
organized second beneficent chocolate
auction. Apollonia group same as last
year participated in this charity event
with donation of chocolate exponent
that was sold in the auction. “This
year’s gathered assets from the sold
items will be donated to the Institute
for physical medicine and rehabilita-
tion in Skopje. This hospital is continu-
ously working with children who have
development problems and difficulties,
like cerebral paralysis, scoliosis, post-
operative treatments etc. Built in the
50s of the last century and renovated after the earthquake in 1963, the Institute
and its staff are working even in two shifts in order to provide the necessary help
for their patients. Our only goal and mission, depending of the gathered assets, is
to fully renovate and equip two rooms that are used for rehabilitation of babies at
age of 24months and above”, says Katerina Zlatanovska Popov from the organizing
association Positivo. Read more at: http://slatkaaukcija.w.mk/en_index.php

On 28th December in Gevgelija was presented the draft version of the Green
agenda - environmental document that was created by Gevgelija citizens in
public meetings and 4 action groups during the past 4 months.
The Green Agenda is a participatory method for developing and implementing
local sustainable development strategies and plans with active involvement of
different sectors in the local community where the process is conducted. The
method is special, compared to other processes with similar aims, in at least 3
main aspects: the process starts out by identifying local values rather than
problems; participation in the process is not limited to experts or certain stake-
holder groups but is wide and open to all; and as a result the process and its
results are genuinely owned by the local people. The Green agenda document will be given to the council of Gevgelija for ap-
proval as official strategic document for conserving the environment and natural and culture values of Gevgelija municipality
for the time period 2011-2015. Apollonia Foundation took part in the action group Urban planning and waste management.

ment and local governments in implementing this procedure, especially in the process
of spatial and urban plans development. At the workshops, the relevant knowledge was presented by the representatives of
the Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning, and SEA Experts from the list of experts in SEA Macedonia which have

The Apollonia Foundation’s Na-
ture Day would like to welcome our
new partners, Club GLOW Gevgelia.
Club GLOW is a group of high
school young women who seek to
show leadership by participating in
activities to support their commu-
nity. GLOW is a worldwide organi-
zation of the Peace Corps to pro-
mote Girls Leadership Over the
World.
This year’s recent Christmas workshop for children was a great success thanks to the participation of these outstanding vol-
unteer workers. Club GLOW members actively helped plan the crafts activities and Christmas talent show. On the days of the
workshop, they organized their craft materials, and taught and supervised children as they made ornaments, decorations,
cards, candy jars, and wrapped boxes to be donated to needy families in the Gevgelija area. In addition to the workshop activi-
ties, GLOW girls added their creativity to planning and performing in a delightful holiday talent show that highlighted the many
talents of the youth of Gevgelija. After the show, the girls organized and helped with donating clothes and toys, gathered by
the community. The Christmas children's workshop was a delightful two day event filled with activities, crafts, games, perform-
