Ancillary Product Feedback-

Magazine

Question 1 –Do you think my film magazine is conventional for a

horror?

From the 10 responses I received from my target audience based on my magazine cover, all of them responded saying that the magazine cover that I have created is conventional for all genres and my film fits in well. From receiving 100% for ‘Yes’ I am able to see clearly that there is nothing that needs to be changed to ensure that it is conventional as it already meets the criteria.

Question 2- Why?

When I asked my target audience why they found my magazine conventional, there were many reasons. The most common one being the layout and image that have been used throughout. There were also comments about the colours that I chose to use. This positive feedback again tells me that there are no major changes that need to be made to make sure that my magazine is conventional to both form and genre.

Question 3- What would you rate the image used? (1-Poor, 5-Good)

From the 10 responses I received from my target audience based upon the image I have chosen to use, I can see that there could be some slight changes made to the image that is used as a main focus within my poster. I can see this because 50% of my target audience said that the image that I used was really good rating it at 5. The other 50% said that there could be some slight changes made rating it at 4. I am going to ensure that my magazine reaches its potential by adding more editing techniques.

Question 4- What would you rate the font styles used? (1-Poor, 5-Good)

From the responses I received based upon the font styles I have chosen to use, I can see that there could be some slight changes made to the them to ensure that they are more conventional and not too repetitive within the magazine. I am going to carry out more font style research to ensure that all of my target audience rate the fonts used at a 5. I will also ensure that they are attracted to the magazine and therefore the film.

Question 5- What would you rate the layout of the magazine? (1-Poor, 5-Good)

From the 10 responses I received based upon the layout of my ancillary magazine cover, I can see that the majority of my target audience feel that it is conventional to form. However, I might have to shuffle things around a bit to ensure all of my target audience rate the layout at a 5. To do this I am going to further research other successful film magazines to help me adapt mine for its full potential. I do not think there is a lot of changes that need to be made.

Question 6- Rate the colours used on the magazine? (1-Poor, 5-Good)

From the feedback I received on the colour scheme used on my magazine, I can see that the majority of my target audience agree that I use interesting colours that are bold but still conventional also. I can see this as the lowest rating I received was 3, although this was only 10% (1 person) I want to ensure that my magazine appeals to all of my target audience so I can make a few changes.

Question 7- What improvements could be made?

When I gained feedback from my target audience based on what improvements could be made within my magazine, I received a variety of answers. The main one was based on cover lines, saying that I could maybe add a few more to ensure that the magazine is of highest standard. Overall, the feedback that I received was positive and allows me to see the slight changes that will need to be made to ensure that the whole of my target audience are interested in the advertisement.
