A s men, we can getcaught up in the lureof a dream or goal. When it doesn’t work out, weget discouraged and forget tolook for God’s purpose. I expe-rienced this about two yearsinto my career. I was workingwith a headhunter to find anew job, and I interviewed atthe Sealed Air Corporation.

Learning from my previ-ous mistakes, I was both pro-fessional and polished. I left

feeling confident that the jobwas mine. When I got home, the headhunter called andsaid, “I’m sorry Joe. Theychose someone with a littlemore experience, but theyreally liked you and want youto come back to interview fora different position.”

Believe it or not, thatscenario repeated itself threetimes. All told, I interviewedfour times at the Sealed AirCorporation. I never got the

job. After the fourth inter-view, I was devastated. Ibawled my eyes out.

The next day, a seeming-ly random wrong-numberphone call put me in touchwith another headhunter. Shetook advantage of her mistaketo drum up business by askingif I was looking for a job. Youbetcha!

Through my new head-hunter, I interviewed at

T he year was 1994 and Iheard about a respon-sible girl that livedaround the corner from us thatwas willing to babysit. Mydaughter was 6, my son was 3and Terry and I desired theopportunity to go out for anoccasional movie and dinnerand were hoping that this 15year old young lady would likeour kids and our kids wouldfall in love with her. We gotlucky and Jennifer was “adopt-ed” into our family. Wewatched as Jennifer grew upalong with our childrenChelsie and Zachary. Shecooked and did homework,

bathed and tucked them intobed. Jennifer soon was drivingthem to karate school andtheir after school sports activi-ties. I was dreading the daythat Jennifer would outgrowthe babysitting job, highschool and go away to college. It isn’t easy finding a consci-entious, responsible youngperson to stay with your kids.

When the kids no longerneeded a “babysitter”, I hired

Jennifer to work in my officeand found out she was the bestemployee a business ownercould ever have! She wasalways on time, did over andabove the call of duty andseverely impressed me withher attention to detail; alwaysdoing her best and trying to

please. There was no job Jennifer wouldn’t tackle oraccept no matter how diffi-cult, educationally or even

physically. She’d roll-up hersleeves and dive in 100%, but, then after high school, sheinformed us she was leaving.

Jennifer wanted tobecome a PA, physician’sassistant and was moving toBoston to continue her educa-tion. We can’t say we wereunprepared for the news, but,you can never really be pre-pared to have a loved onemove away. Jennifer’sboyfriend was from NJ, so wewere hoping she would visitfrequently and I would offerher work in the office duringher vacations and visits; alas, she convinced Jarrod to followher and find work in MA; hedid and our hopes were dashedshe’d ever come home.

A few years ago, Jenniferblessed me with the honor of driving her and her mom

Linda, to her wedding in ourRolls Royce. I truly felt father-ly that day as Jennifer’s fatherhad passed away less than ayear before his daughter’s bigday. My children’s babysitterwas all grown-up and marriednow in addition to becoming aPA. I tried unsuccessfully tooffer her, her old job back orany job involving financialplanning, which, she repeat-edly rejected preferring a hos-pital or doctor’s office settingto a financial planning firm. If she put forth the same energy, professionalism and attitude asa PA that she did for Terry andI, any doctor would be trulyblessed to have her on theirteam. Currently Jennifer islooking for a position in NJwhile actively employed in

MA, not an easy task for sure.(Any doctors reading can callme for her contact info if youact fast.)

You see, Sunday was Jennifer’s first baby’s christen-ing at St. Mary’s Church, herchurch, in Pompton Lakes andthe babysitter that we met 20years ago is now a brand newmommy. Things have comefull-circle, once Jennifer, herhusband Jarrod and their new-born move back to NJ, Terryhas offered to babysit so theycan go out for dinner and amovie every now and then.Knowing my wife and hermaternal instincts, it will befar more often both now andthen.

I was wondering what thegoing rate for babysitters arenow. I babysat a few timeswhen I was 15 and the ratethen was .75 cents an hour. I

don’t remember what I paid Jennifer 18 and 19 years ago, but, whatever it is Jenniferwill be able to add the equiva-

lent sum into her daughter’scollege fund since Terrywouldn’t take a dime, of course.

Now, my parental, father-ly and financial plannerinstincts will be fully engagedin speaking with Jenniferabout the financial future of her daughter, Samantha Lynn, herself and husband Jarrod.

Jennife r’s grandmother hasbeen an APG client for years, now it is important that thewhole family from great grand-mother to great granddaughterand everyone in between pre-pare for their financial futures!

Whether for college, retire-ment, an emergency, or a lega-cy-based estate plan; I encour-age all of you to schedule anappointment with your finan-cial advisor to design, refine orimplement your financialplan. There is so much to planfor and so very little time.Who was it that said “a pennysaved is a penny earned?” Andif past performance of infla-tion rates and stock marketperformance are any indica-tion of the future, one shouldmemorize and embrace the7P’s: Proper Prior PlanningPrevents Poor Performance –Period!® Don’t delay, calltoday!

Jennifer - Terry and I andour 4 children are so very

proud of you, your accom-plishments and life choices. You are a credit to your family;your dedication, persistence

and hard work have paid-off handsomely. You have proventhat luck is spelled W.O.R.K!Remember to always put medown as a reference on anyapplication for employmentyou complete. And let me endwith a “thank you” for accept-ing our request to babysit ourchildren 20 years ago.Congratulations on becominga Mom, you’re going to be agreat one!

Find out why tap water, bottled water, reverse osmo-sis and distilled water are not the answer and couldbe actually causing more health problems.

TAP WATER is a healthier option than soft drinks and other beverages, but according to the Environmental WorkingGroup, there have been 315 pollutants found in America’stap water since 2004, and over half of these pollutants arecompletely unregulated and can legally exist in any amount.

At the current levels of contamination, the public is startingto question the quality of tap water and wonders if it is safeenough to drink.

BOTTLED WATER is not necessarily healthier than tapwater and yet it costs much more! Bottled water costs more

per gallon than gasoline! Although, through marketing tac-tics, it is associated with healthy water, bottled water isnot guaranteed to be any healthier than tap water. In fact, there are many carcinogenic chemicals that go into themaking of plastic water bottles that can leach into thewater. Why do you think they constantly tell us not to storebottled water in our cars? Because the plastic heats up,releasing chemicals into the water. Bottled water has al-ready been heated many times in the 4 to 6 months ittakes to reach market.

A four-year study by the Natural Resources DefenseCouncil shows that 1/3 of the bottled water tested con-tains levels of contamination which exceed allowable lim-its. Bottled water can also be slightly acidic, which mayaffect your body’s pH balance. Finally, the environmental

impact caused by the production and disposal of plasticbottles is harmful to our ecosystem.

REVERSE OSMOSIS AND DISTILLED WATERReverse Osmosis and Distilling are filtering processes, which may be effective in areas that do not receive munic-ipally treated water and are commonly used in bottled water facilities. Both reverse osmosis and distilling removeshealthy, naturally occurring minerals in our water. Theseminerals not only provide good taste, they also serve a vitalfunction in the healthy balance of our bodies. When strippedof these minerals, this water becomes unnatural and an ag-gressive absorber. This can be quite unhealthy. Also, 2 - 3gallons of water are wasted for every gallon of purified water produced; again, a very negative impact on our environmentand ecosystem.

There is a better way to support your body, so it can do what it is designed to do, HEAL ITSELF.REMOVE TOXINS by drink ing the right water.

The SolutionWe have researched the best water to drink for detoxifying your body of theseharmful pollutants, as well as remove pesticides (toxins) from your fruits andvegetables.

This technology comes from Japan and has been used in Japanesehomes for decades. It is now available in the USA. This water brilliantlyaddresses the Three Stresses that are causing us to feel and lookolder, slowing us down, and causing more aches and pains: OxidativeStress , Aci dic Stres s and Dehydration Stress .

    Ant i-Oxi dant

The most powerful feature of this water is its anti-oxidant property, be-cause it is rich in Molecular Hydrogen. This dissolved hydrogen gas hasbeen demonstrated to reduce oxidative stress, helping to reduce free radical damage. With its negative oxidation-reductionpotential (ORP) and great taste, youcan count on this ionized anti-oxi-dant water to aid in the neutraliza-tion of free radicals. Given theproper tools, our bodies canheal themselves.

Experts tell us our body’s pHneeds to be balanced. Ionized

alkaline water helps to balancethe pH of the body and flush outacidic waste. The natural benefits of the water are encouraged and en-hanced by alkalinity. Alkalinity is the statein which water is most harmonious with itswellness benefits.

Water is the universal solvent that our bodies rely on for flushing toxinsand waste products from the body. By returning the water to the way itused to be, the way nature intended water to be, our bodies can usethe water more efficiently. Preliminary studies have revealed a phenom-enon called “micro clustering” which refers to the exceptionally small“structured” molecule clusters of ionized water. With its great taste and

smaller cluster size, this water can address all of your body’s hydrationneeds.

This technology doesn’t stop at great tasting drinking and cooking waters. Infact, it creates many different waters for use in all aspects of daily life.

Beautiful Skin and Hair Acidic water—referred to in Japan as “Beauty

Water”— helps give our skin and hair thesupport it needs to be vibrant and radi-

    ant.

Pesticide Removal from ProducePesticides are oil-based; so washingyou r fruits and vegetables in tapwater does not remove these poten-tially harmful chemicals that are

sprayed on our food. Using strong, al-

kaline water (11.5 pH) has beendemonstrated to remove this chemicalresidue on produce, which gives us

peace of mind that we do not have to ingestthese toxins.

Toxic-free CleaningMany people today have chemical sensitivities. To help create a toxic-freesan ctuary in our homes, there are three waters from this advanced Japan-ese technology to do just that: clean and sanitize your home without theuse of toxic, chemical cleaners.

Environmentally GreenThe water from this technology is Chemical-free, Green and Eco-Friendly.

Don’t Forget Your PetsYour precious furry friends are part of the family and they suffer the same way

we do. Be sure to give them the right water for healthy bodies, fur and coats. There is no

placebo effect in animals. Do the dog andcat test; put down a bowl of our water

and a bowl of whatever water youhave been giving them and see whichwater they choose. Fascinating!

Summer camp is a belovedtradition in many fami-lies. Many parents of young children fondly recallspending their summers at sum-mer camp, where they madelifelong friends and learned thefiner points of roasting marsh-mallows and competing inthree-legged sack races.

Parents looking for theright summer camp for theirkids will soon discover there arevarious types of summer camps, each offering youngsters some-thing different. The followingare some of the summer campoptions parents can expect toencounter as they search for theright camp for their kids.DAY CAMP

Day camps are notovernight camps, which meanskids will return home eachnight rather than sleep over atcamp. Day camps typically offermany of the activities peoplehave come to associate withcamps, including crafts, sportsand even day-trips to experi-ence local culture or attrac-tions. Many day camps are co-ed, and counselors typically livewithin the community.

    FAITH-BASED CAMPFaith-based camps offer

many of the same activities asmore traditional summercamps, but do so while simulta-neously offering campers theopportunity to celebrate andfurther explore their religious

beliefs. Some faith-basedcamps may focus heavily onreligion, incorporating faithinto daily camp activities, while others may be more sub-tle with regard to integratingreligious beliefs and lessonsinto camp activities.SPORTS CAMPS

Some summer campsfocus on a particular sport, catering to young athletes whowant to further develop theirathletic talents. Sports campsmay feature guest lectures andlessons from notable local ath-letes and coaches, while somecamps may provide instructionfrom current and/or formerprofessional athletes. Somesports camps are overnight,

while others are day camps. FAMILY CAMPS

Family camps are opportu-nities for the whole family toenjoy the summer camp experi-ence. Family camps typicallytailor their activities aroundtasks families can complete

together, with counselors pro-viding assistance when it’sneeded. Family camps may befaith-based or secular, and fam-ilies typically stay overnight, sleeping in facilities on thecampsites or in lodging awayfrom home.

SPECIAL NEEDS CAMPSParents of children with

special needs can still sendtheir kids to summer camp, asthere are many camps thatcater to such youngsters.Special needs camps may caterto campers who are blind, deaf, learning disabled, ormentally or physically dis-abled. Staff at special needscamps typically undergoesextensive training, whichhelps to calm some of the fearsparents may have about leav-ing their special needs chil-dren at camp. Facilities at spe-cial needs camps are oftenbuilt to accommodate the spe-cific needs of campers.

T he strong bonds manypeople share withtheir pets can makethe death of those pets, be itsudden or expected, difficultto handle. It’s not uncommonto be traumatized when a petdies, and such grief may beinfluenced by the pet’s age atthe time of its death, the cir-cumstances surrounding thatdeath and the nature of the relationship between theowner and pet.

Different pet owners dealwith the death of a pet in dif-ferent ways, but the followingare some ways to cope withthe loss of a companion ani-mal.

Recognize that everyonefeels differently. Grief isexpressed in many differentways. What one person experi-ences may not be the norm foranother. You may go through avariety of emotions, fromanger at the circumstances andbeing left without your pet, toguilt if you believe there mayhave been something moreyou could have done to pro-long the animal’s life. Mournin your own way, and affordothers the same opportunity.

Reach out to others.Grief often can turn a personinward, and your feelings maybe bottled up. Talking aboutyour emotions, whether it’s

with a trusted friend or even atherapist, may help. Onlinemessage boards that covergrief and pet loss may provide

the support you need. Leaningon others who have been inyour shoes may help yourecover more quickly.

Create mementos or alegacy for the pet. Creatingmementos may help childrenwho are having their own dif-ficulty dealing with pet loss.Work with your child to createa photo album or plant a treeto honor your pet.

Dealing with a pet thatmust be euthanized can beespecially difficult. Pet ownerscan choose to be in the roomduring the procedure, and thatdecision should not be madelightly. If you think you canhandle it and you want to bethere to comfort your pet, then you might be more com-fortable being in the room. But being present when a pet

is euthanized can be emotion-al, so give this decision seriousconsideration.

Once a pet has died, many owners debate whetheror not to bring a new pet intotheir homes. Another animalaround the house can fill thevoid created when your previ-ous pet passed away, and somepeople adopt or buy a new petbefore an old or sick pet passesaway to make the transition assmooth as possible. A new petshould only be brought intothe home when you’re readyto build a new relationship.

Venous Reflux is oftenthe underlying causeof varicose veins andfrequently forces menand women to dra-

matically change their lifestyles, espe-cially when they are active and can nolonger tolerate being on their feet. The

valves in the veins are damaged and theveins near the skin surface arestretched and distorted from the in-creased pressure caused by blood flow-ing in the wrong direction. Althoughthe condition is rarely life threatening,it is often painful and unattractive. If your condition qualifies, we utilize anoffice based treatment that can haveyou back on your feet in no time! Seek treatment sooner than later.Because vein disease is progressive, thiscan lead to symptoms like swelling,

cramping, leg heaviness, itching and fa-tigue. Left untreated, vein disease canlead to skin discoloration and even ul-ceration.

    Signs of Vein Problems

The symptoms are similar for vari-cose and spider veins, but are typically

more severe for varicose veins. Spiderveins may cause minor burning or itch-ing at the site. Varicose vein symptomsinclude leg aches or cramps, a feeling of leg heaviness, burning, throbbing or tin-gling. Skin ulcers, especially in the anklearea, are not uncommon when vari-cose veins are particularly severe. Dr. Ghassemi uses state-of-the-artlaser and radio frequency therapy totreat problem veins in as little as anhour. Procedures are minimally invasiveor non-invasive and patients walk out

with a healthier outlook. Let laser ther-apy work for you. Visit our website formore information. At the new ACP Vein TreatmentCenter in Wayne, our staff is dedicatedentirely to the diagnosis and treatmentof vein disorders. We treat venous dis-eases with painless, minimally invasive

A flat roof is more prone to leakage than other roofs, so home-owners may need to routinely inspect their flat roofs for any areasof water penetration. Another way to prevent leaks is to installgutter systems correctly. Gutters should not be hung completelylevel, but angled toward the roof’s downspouts and drains. Thisangle will better facilitate water flow.
