GLOBAL MINDSCase for inspiration
Michael Rottbøll, CFO & PartnerTCI GC, 10 November 2016
Internationalizing SMEs Small cluster Global minds from beginning Involving mentors Focus on markets abroad One year project
How We Did It
• Found the food companies• Advertised for mentors on Linked-in• Screened the in coming mentors• Partnered the mentors and companies
The Run• Companies and mentors got to know each
other• Mentors visited the companies• Steps was agreed• Tree mentor meetings spread over one year• Follow ups in between the mentor meetings• Knowledge sharing between the companies
and mentors
The Results
• Companies found new export markets• Companies tested logistics in new markets• Companies had to reorganize themselves• Companies requested new members of their
board.
Learnings
• Milestones in this regard are too hard• Mentors would love to spend more time with the
companies• Mentors would like to get more dilemmas from the
companies• Some companies had to rethink their business plans• It is easy to get high ranked business people as
mentors• Mentors like to help SMEs and get to learn as well• Some mentors are still involved in the mentored
company

Collecting/understanding needs
Build (minimum viable product) – measure – learn
Objective: Creating value and validated learning
And now we work…1. Build a minimum viable collaboration
• Has to create value/meet needs of cluster members• Must not involve external funding• Can be implemented on Monday morning
2. Measure • present and gain feedback
3. Learn • revise your offer (rebuild or ”pivot”)
