If not the same, they want an equivalent or something better even. The hype around social media is basically due to the unification of voice, video and real time or at convenience communication. It also brings together content and community in corporate workflows and decision making. Employees are asking for a place where everyday activities including making and receiving calls, attending meetings, making comments etc can be conducted online. We have Quad for this. The user has access to all the tools that he uses at his workplace. Social media with real time technologies and content will be quite compelling as opposed to a bulletin board like platform. That's the way ahead. A lot of IT/ITES companies have built these platforms in the absence of any tailor‐made olutions. In some cases, they are embedding our technologies such as voice, video and resence into their systems.” sp The Cloud is a way for telcos to cut cost and win market share– Nitin BharadwaVyakaranam, VP, Global Marketing and Alliances, Prithvi Information Solutions “Cloud Computing provides a new enterprise service opportunity for the telecom sector. Today we can see that there is a gradual transition towards the Cloud and it will help customers rationalize their infrastructure costs and help them function better. Telecom is a hyper competitive market. The Cloud is a way for telecom players to reduce their costs. For instance, telecom providers have their own app stores, an important source of revenue. Moving to the Cloud will help them service more customers and garner more revenue. It will also boost their application portfolio.”

To write off this money is uite a painful exercise, even for companies like Sistema." Wq 3G adoption in India remains subdued – Victor Shanxin, President, Huawei Devices "3G adoption in India remains subdued due to various issues such as network quality, low enetration of 3G‐enabled handsets, unavailability of local content, and the absence of a pfantastic application. High prices also made Indian subscribers turn cautious about 3G, resulting into less than 2 percent penetration despite 10‐15 percent penetration of 3G ‐nabled handsets. One of the other factors that go against 3G is allocation of just 5 MHz of spectrum as against 20 MHz in case of 4G. India has a very high subscriber density as compared to other ountries. If a sizeable proportion of it decides to opt for 3G, with very high data traffic ompared to 2G, 3G networks will be congested very soon." cc
