  • Chapter 1OverviewStatus management is a function of the operation and maintenance subsystem. It helpsdebugging upper-level services and on-site installation, and analyzing system faults.Through status management, maintenance and technical personnel can quickly locatefaults.

The status management enables users to manage the dynamic data in the system, including:

l Querying dynamic data: Users can obtain status data of the resources through theNMS client.

l Monitoring dynamic data: Users can view the real time changes on dynamic data.l Operating dynamic data: Through the NMS client, users can perform the following

    operations on the resources: block/unblock, reset/forcible reset, enable/disable, andstop/start.

As a multi-aspect and multi-module function, status management involves databaseoperations, Managed Object (MO) operations, NE-BSC communication, and BSCoperations.

Note:l The objects of status management are only the ground and radio resources with status

properties. Those without status properties are not shown in the status managementinterface.

l During status management, the communication between the BSC and NEs must beproper.

l Status management operations should not be performed unless absolutely necessarybecause they may affect the quality of conversational services.
