Colligative Properties Of Solution Experiment

Lita loves ice cream. Almost everyday she buys ice cream made by Mr. Anton, ice cream seller. But one day, Mr Anton was sick and he didn’t sell any ice cream for some weeks. This drive Lita sad. She decided to make ice cream by her own. She pour the ice cream solution ,into the small plastic and put ice + table salt in big plastic. Then she places the small plastic into the big one and shaked. Do this in your experiment and note the temperatur changes!!

WORKSHEET KEY ANSWER

Procedure:

1. Pour the ice cream into small plastic and and tie the plastic.

2. Break the ice block and placed into the big plastic.

3. Add 5 spoons of salt into the break ice block

4. Put the syrup in small plastic into the big one and tie the plastic

5. Shake these plastics until the frozen ice cream formed.

6. Pour the ice cream in glass

Analysis

1. What is the theoritical temperature of ice melt?

0°C

2. What is the theoritical temperature when ice was frozen?

-3°C

3. Which one of colligative properties that was used in this experiment?\

The decreasing of freezing point

4. Give the explanation why it can be happen!

This occurs because the process of heat transfer from the ice cream solution into

the mixture of ice, water, and salt. The function of salt is lowering the freezing point

of the solution. When ice mixed with salt, ice melt and form salt solution and

lowering the temperature. This process requires heat from the outside. This solution

ger heat from the ice cream solution and the result is a dense and delicious ice cream

as desired.

5. Conclude what is the correlation of adding table salt in colligative properties of

solution!

The addition of salt lowering the freezing point of ice.
