IntroThroughout both the editing and filming process of my opening title

sequence (Ultimatum), I have learnt that there are various things you can do that greatly enhance the end product that you have. I have discovered that using technologies such as Slide Share, Prezi, Twitter, AS media’s school Twitter account and Blog, Blogger, and YouTube in order to upload films and embed my own, help dramatically and are extremely handy and professional technologies that have enhanced my blog dramatically in terms of both function and aesthetic appeal.

Editing Techniques Via TechnologyAs the Director of my film I wanted to include scenes of intimacy

between the Father figure and the son, thus creating empathy among the audience as the plot begins to twist and that relationship becomes torn apart, by including a deeply underlying paradigms supported by clever editing which will use flashbacks, and montages to add emotion to the sequence. Myself and Connor spent lots of time in the editing studio trying to figure out different ways we could represent emotion to both the audience but establish this relationship with the actors throughout the sequence, I felt that if I could do this then we could entice our audience and engage their interaction further.

SoundAnother fantastic way to utilise modern day technology when constructing

our film was through the art of Foley. Foley is a fantastic way to really bring a thriller film to life adding that professional edge that a thriller film requires, with the help of Foley we were able to turn a bland opening sequence in to a deep and eerie thriller which truly captivated its audience from start to finish. We conducted our Foley in the Music Department using the Garage Band software on the Mac, this software allowed us to add in and record more professional sounds to our sequence. Some of the sounds we added were voices which were later edited to sound more clear to the audience in our opening sequence. Another great addition of using Foley is the atmosphere it adds throughout, using Foley we were able to take recordings of a specific environment and replace the low quality clips which came with our recording.

New Social Technologies Over the period of making our media film we have had to make sure that we could access

our audience and produce blogs on a range of different social based sites, some of these include the likes of Skype, in which we used to Skype Michael Harrowes, a professional film editor. Furthermore I have used various technologies to aid my blog, such as SoundCloud,

Prezi, YouTube, Lino, Pinterest and Blogger. I felt that these new technologies really improved the function and aesthetical side to my Blog, as without it may have looked very

plain and boring.

SoftwareThe software that we used in order to edit our final opening title sequence was Adobe Premiere Pro. Every member of the group has a go at editing

our production and I in particular found it very useful and easy to use. Exposing myself and the group to new technology really did enlighten us

and increase the quality of our opening title sequence (Ultimatum) amazingly.

Lighting As the director of Ultimatum who wrote the treatment for the

opening title sequence, I noticed that their had to be a

distinction between protagonist and antagonist, I had to find

a way using technology to make evil stand out from good. I

decided to use lighting to show the phone call scene of

Connor in a darkened place highlighting him as the villain to

the audience before he even speaks. Using a darkened

room and professional lighting provided by our media

teacher we were able to create a darkened shot that didn't’t

look grainy at all, like previous attempts we had tried without

lighting, the end result is extremely professional and can be

seen below.
