West Nyack Free Library Summer 2019 In just a short time, the West Nyack Free Library will be celebrating its 60th anniversary! 60 years of library service in our community is a milestone that deserves recognition. Our staff members work hard throughout the year to offer quality programming for patrons of all ages. However, this fall, you will notice increased opportunities in honor of our 60 year anniversary date. Would you like to be involved? We welcome West Nyack Library supporters to our Friends group. On June 19 at 7 PM, a Meet and Greet will be held in the Community Room. Please join us to see if this volunteer opportunity would be right for you. Our Friends group orchestrates fundraising opportunities for the Library, including garage sales, book sales and special events. Coffee and desserts will be served. You can also help support anniversary programming by participating during one or both of our special events on Thursday, July 11. We have teamed with Zinburger and Barnes & Noble of Nanuet. Stop by any service desk for fliers. A portion of proceeds will go towards the Library. If you see a library staff member while there, be sure to stop by and say hello. Rhonda Rossman, Library Director Weve come so far in 60 years! Our building started with a section of what was originally a two room schoolhouse on land that had been purchased in 1899 for $700. The small brick building was the newaddition that was added on to the school in 1922. Through the efforts of local businesses and Clarkstown citizens, the West Nyack Library became chartered in 1959. Since then, weve expanded greatly, not only in square footage, but also in the services that we provide to our patrons. Over the years weve added modern technology as well as a diverse selection of materials to borrow. Thank you to our patrons for your continuous support through our growing years. We’ve come so far in 60 years! Our building started with a section of what was originally a two room schoolhouse on land that had been purchased in 1899 for $700. The small brick building was the “new” addition that was added on to the school in 1922. Through the efforts of local businesses and Clarkstown citizens, the West Nyack Library became chartered in 1959. Since then, we’ve expanded greatly, not only in square footage, but also in the services that we provide to our patrons. Over the years we’ve added modern technology as well as a diverse selection of materials to borrow. Thank you to our patrons for your continuous support through our growing years.
