The Conference Forum's First Annual Chief Medical Officer Summit for Emerging Life Science

Companies is delighted to present a truly distinctive and interactive event for CMOs. The role of

a Chief Medical Officer is one that means many things to many people, and indeed is radically

different depending on the type of organization in which a CMO works. For a CMO of a small

life science company, the role is often an isolated one, but with all the responsibility for driving

the clinical development and CRO management while meeting the needs of investors and

positioning for an appropriate exit. Chief Medical Officers in most emerging biotechs are playing

an increasingly larger role in raising funding for their life science companies.

We are dedicated to accomplishing two goals:

1. To bring together CMO executives to address the unique challenges associated with

directing and managing all R&D functions with limited resources, while raising capital,

working and meeting with investors and strategizing for appropriate exits.

2. To create a network of CMOs from small to mid size life science companies to share

ideas, solutions and support.

In 2011, the global biosimilars market was worth a little over $1,300m. Biosimilars account for

just 1.1% of the global biologics market at present.

The national biosimilars markets expected to experience the fastest growth throughout the period

2012-2022 are developed markets such as the US and Japan.

'Biosimilar' or 'Follow-on Biologic' are terms given to manufactured biological molecules,

however due to the complexity of biologics, the product made can only be similar not identical to

its reference molecule.

Due to the complexity of such products, there are many issues revolving around it such as

immunogenicity, developmental, FDA guidelines patents and many more. It is more critical than

ever to make sure your company's plan to tackle these issues set by industry leaders.

Following the huge success of our events in Boston and London, the 12th Biosimilars conference

will face important questions associated with cost-effective methods of developing biosimilars,

key regulatory issues, safety assessments both clinical & non-clinical methods and the future of

Validation practices with a "lifecycle" concept as well as with the principles outlined in ICH

Guidelines Q8 (Pharmaceutical Development), Q9 (Quality Risk Management), and Q10

(Pharmaceutical Quality Systems). This session will review the FDA Guidance just issued, and

will summarize the efforts of ISPE's Process Validation Implementation Team, including some

practical considerations for implementing the new approach. In addition, observations from

establishing a Stage 3 "Continued Process Verification" program for legacy products will be

shared, including challenges and lessons learned.

made? What is upstream? What is Downstream? ISPE's Boston Area Chapter is bringing you the

answers to these questions and much more in their Biotech 101 session at WPI. In this session,

we will show you the process of how biotech based drugs are made, the typical systems required

to maintain a robust facility, and the critical quality attributes and process parameters associated

with manufacturing. No matter what your experience level, this behind the scenes look into drug

manufacturing will enhance your understanding of how a single cell is turned into a lifesaving

therapy.

platform for leadership on a foundation of relationship and collaboration that utilizes their unique

way of being in the world. In today's fast-paced and complex business environment, women play

a vital part in enabling and facilitating organizational change. Full realization of this capability,

however, requires the courage and confidence to take action in the face of corporate cultural

norms that often suppress alternative voices and perspectives.

This program is an exciting and innovative day of growth and discovery, designed to enhance

and enable participants' capability to be effective and powerful change agents. Our aim is to

provoke insights and offer strategies that enable women to more successfully take appropriate

risks, influence others, navigate corporate culture, manage upward, and have impact as change

agents. Participants will experience an unusual and innovative program, with a rich mix of

content, small group activities, individual reflection, and spontaneous large group

discussion.Participants will leave refreshed and energized by their peer interactions, inspired by

fresh insights, and committed to action.
