The Bruins open the tournament with matches against Westmont College and fifth-ranked Biola University. BU will conclude the tournament against Vanguard University and No. 10 College of Idaho. Scouting Bellevue: The Bruins return 11 letterwinners and four starters from last year’s team that finished with a 34-14 overall record and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament for the fourth-straight season. Among BU’s returnees include NAIA and AVCA honorable mention All-Americans setter Jordan Broady and middle blocker Maureen Wardian. Broady is a two-time first team all-MCAC selection and led the Bruins with 14 double-doubles and was named the MCAC Setter of the Week on six occasions last year. She directed the BU offense with 1,589 assists and was third on the team with 361 digs. Wardian, who also earned honorable mention NAIA All-American honors in 2009, led the Bruins with a .331 attack percentage and 1.09 blocks per game. She was second on the team with 432 kills. Wardian is a three-time first team all-MCAC honoree. The Bruins added one transfer and two freshman to the 2011 team. Junior defensive specialist/libero Mollie Gavin transferred to BU from Evangel University where she played in 70 matches and recorded 510 digs in two seasons. Freshmen outside hitters Sunny Bell and Niki Gregory join the Bruins after standout careers at the high school level. The Bruins will face six teams in the preseson top 25 poll, including Biola (No. 5), Lewis-Clark State (No. 7), College of Idaho (No. 10), North-western (No. 15), Dordt (No. 20) and Lubbock Christian (No. 23).

Bellevue was also picked as the favorite to win the 2011 MCAC vol-leyball championship according to the MCAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll released on Monday, Aug. 22.

Last Season Recap: Bellevue finished the 2010 season with an overall record of 34-14 and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament for the fourth-consecutive season after capturing the MCAC Tournament title. The Bruins finished as MCAC regular-season co-champions with College of the Ozarks after posting a 15-1 league mark.

Up Next: The Bruins will make their home debut next week when they host the Bruin Labor Day Classic on Sept. 1-3. BU will open the tournament against No. 23 Lubbock Christian University on Thursday, Sept. 1 at 7:00 p.m. BU plays two matches on Friday, Sept. 2. They open the day with a 3:00 p.m. contest against in-state foe Hastings College before hosting Viterbo University at 7:00 p.m. The Bruins conclude the tournament with a 3:00 p.m. match scheduled against No. 7 Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) College on Saturday, Sept. 3.

Trish Siedlik | Head CoachTrish Siedlik will begin her sixth season at the helm of the Bellevue University volleyball program in 2011 and has taken the Bruins to the NAIA National Tournament each of the past four seasons.

Siedlik has a 153-53 (.743) record in five seasons at BU and a 277-74 (.789) career record in nine seasons as a collegiate head coach.

The 2010 season marked the fourth-straight season Siedlik guided the Bruins to the NAIA National Tournament, claiming both the MCAC regular season and postseason titles. Siedlik also earned MCAC Coach of the Year accolades for the seventh time in her career and for the fifth-consecutive season after leading BU to an overall record of 34-14 and a final national ranking at No. 21.

Prior to BU, Siedlik was head coach at College of Saint Mary in Omaha from 2002-2005. During her four years, the Flames compiled a 124-21 record, including a conference record of 60-3, winning four MCAC regular season and tournament titles, two Region IV titles, and three NAIA National Tournament appearances, making it all the way to the Elite-Eight in 2004.

In her nine seasons of coaching in the MCAC, Siedlik has guided her teams to eight regular season league titles and eight conference tournament championships. She has collected four regular season and four tournament titles at Bellevue.

Siedlik played collegiate volleyball at CSM from 1995-98, was named the MCAC Player of the Year in 1997, and graduated with a Computer Graphics degree in 1999.

She is married to Michael Siedlik, Jr. who is employed with the Omaha Fire Department. They have two sons, Brandon and Luke, and one daughter, Mandy, born February of 2011.

Assistant CoaCHesMatt Buttermore | Assistant CoachMatt Buttermore will begin his third season as an assistant coach on the Bruin coaching staff in 2011 after serving three seasons as an assistant at Concordia University in Seward, Neb.

Buttermore also has experience coaching numerous volleyball club teams.

In 2011, Buttermore was one of 30 volleyball coaches around the nation who were honored with the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Thirty Under 30 Award.

A graduate of the University of Findlay (Ohio), Buttermore was a four-year letterwinner and academic all-conference performer as a middle blocker for the NCAA Division I men’s volleyball team.

He also holds University of Findlay school records for blocks in a single match and total blocks in a season.

Buttermore earned his master’s degree from Bellevue University in 2011.

A native of Lincoln, Neb., Buttermore lives in the state capital with his wife, Laura (formerly Laura Pilakowski), who was a two-time All-American volleyball player at Nebraska and a member of the 2000 undefeated national championship team.

In addition to his coaching duties, Buttermore also serves as a copywriter at Bellevue.

Steve Field | Assistant CoachSteve Field will enter his third season on the Bruin volleyball coaching staff in 2011 after serving as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Nebraska at Omaha under Head Coach Rose Shires from 1989-2008.

While at UNO, Field was also the school’s associate sports information director for 19 years. He handled media relations for the school’s 16 intercollegiate sports, led a complete overhaul of the UNO athletic website, served as the department’s publication coordinator, and updated and archived the department’s statistical records.

Field is an active member of the NAIA-SIDA - the NAIA’s Sports Information Directors Association, College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). For three years, he served on the CoSIDA Publications Contest Committee.

Field has earned 24 “Best in the Nation” awards from CoSida, recognizing excellence in producing, designing and editing collegiate athletic publications.

A graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Field earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from UNO and received his master’s degree from Bellevue University in 2011.

A native of Gretna, Neb., Field helped lead the UNO Maverick volleyball team to the 1996 NCAA Division II national championship and to 10 NCAA Tournament appearances.

Field, who also serves as Bellevue’s sports information director, has four children: Kaitlin, Olivia, Kaleb and Jonny.
