Uploading Files to FTP

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a fast and reliable method of transferring large files over the internet. Email has limitations and typically doesn’t allow you to transfer a file or set of files over 5-10 MB. There are two ways to upload to our FTP site - through our website or FTP client sortware.

METHOD 1 - WEB BROWSERLog In To www.publicationprinters.com• Be sure you have received a username and

password from your Account Manager.• Be sure “Block Pop-Up Windows” is disabled or the

upload window will not appear.

2. Enter the username and password given to you by your Account Manager

3. You will now be in your FTP folder. You may or may not see files yet.

4. Click on “Upload Files” - you may be prompted to “Allow” access - please do so to continue.

5. You should see an “Upload” window appear - if you don’t, make sure “Pop-Up Windows” are not blocked and try again.

6. Here, you can “Browse” to your file. If you have multiple files to upload, click the “Advanced Browse” button

8. Once the upload completes, you will see your files in the window.

8. If you need to delete files, check the box to the left of the file name and click “Delete.”

Once you are ready to log in:• Be sure you have received a username and password from your Account Manager.• Please compress the files you wish to upload to lower the possibility of corruption during

transfer. The easiest way to do this is to put everything in a folder and then, using Stuffit or Winzip, compress it.

• Once your upload has completed, please notify your Account Manager or, if after business hours, please let the pre-press department know which folder you have uploaded to as we have over 700 folders on our FTP site.

If you run into problems trying to connect, here is a list of potential causes:• Are your username and password entered correctly? These are case sensitive.• Do you have a firewall? If so, you will need to make sure you configure it to allow you to

connect to our site.• If you’re on a PC, only certain versions of Internet Explorer will work if you do not have FTP

client software.
