Gathering

During our silence while listening to the Prelude Bountiful God, you gather your people into your realm, and you promise us food from your tree of life. Nourish us with your word, that empowered by your Spirit we may love one another and the world you have made, through Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Call to Worship

May God be gracious to us and bless us, and make God’s face to shine upon us, that God’s way may be known upon earth, God’s saving power among all nations. Let all the people praise God; let all the people sing praise! Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for God judges the peoples with equity and guides the nations upon earth. Let the people praise God; let all the people sing praise!

Opening Prayer Astonishing God, you give us a vision of the heavenly city, the new Jerusalem, your home among mortals on earth. All people and nations will stream to your city where they will find nourishment, healing, and peace. Even now your blessing shines upon all the earth to help us see a larger vision of your loving care for all creation. And so you call us to move beyond our comfortable circles, and into unfamiliar places, as we seek to share your dream of a world made new in Christ. Amen.

The annual Laurel House 5K Walk/Run is set for Saturday, June 8, originating at the Alex Eligh Community Center on East Avenue in Newark. The race starts at 9:00 a.m. promptly, with check-in beginning at 7:30 a.m. Pre-registration runs until May 31 at $30.00, and $35.00 up to race day. Youth participants, 18 and under, are still $15.00. Shirts are guaranteed for the first 350 runners.
