THE TOBAGO HERITAGE FESTIVAL
Where
The Tobago Heritage Festival is the largest single, most outstanding annual cultural event to take place in Tobago. The annual event that is known as Tobago Heritage Festival can be described as a celebration that serves to revel in the rich culture, traditions and culinary arts of the Tobagonian people. Heritage Festival is a community based event, primarily focused on highlighting the cultural differences of the various communities that form the geographical landscape of the sister isle Tobago.
Why
The Heritage festival serves as a pivotal platform where the elder village folk pass on their practised traditions through folk singing, dancing and feasting.
How
Popular presentations are the Ole Time Tobago Wedding in Moriah (a reenaction of an 18th century wedding procession), Folk Tales and Superstitions in Golden Lane and Les Coteaux, Games We Used to Play, the Belmanna Riots, Salaka Feast and Invocation Dance. Productions are held every evening in different villages around Tobago spreading the celebration around the island.
