LET US DELIVER TO YOU FOR FREE INBEAUFORT AND AREAS DOWN EAST!FOR ALL YOUR HOME IMPROVEMENT NEEDS

Saturday morning the sun was shinning brightly on Harkers Island but it was cold. I think we are supposed to have six more weeks of bad weather. I don’t know where the ground hog was that he couldn’t see his shadow. We had plenty of sun on Harkers Island since the sun rose! Oh well, we will see!

The Harkers Island bridge is coming along although the crew of workers only works four days a week. I’m so tired of stopping at that red light! Maybe by spring the job will be completed.

I hope all the ladies and gents too have a wonderful Valentine Day. My niece brought me four delicious chocolate strawber- ries – so good!

“Worry pulls tomorrow’s clouds over today’s sunshine.” I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life and He gave me life that I may enjoy all things. God never said it would be easy — he just said he would go with me.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. and hot dogs, barbecue sand- wiches, nachos, cotton candy popcorn and drinks will be sold. Game packets that include five early bird cards, nine regular games cards and a dabber, will be available at the door for $15. The last game will cost $1 a sheet for a $100 jackpot.

The school will not have an early release day Feb. 15. In order to set up for the annual Core Sound Decoy Festival, our school trades an early release day for the Friday of Decoy weekend. Be aware that while other Carteret County school will release early, Harkers Island School will release at 3 p.m.

Spring box top collecting has begun and will be mailed off at the end of February. Please start turning them in. Last fall we realized money for each classroom. Remember each box top is worth 10 cents and all proceeds stay here at Harkers Island School.
