What is soical interaction?

08/01/2017

Firstly.

”Humans are by nature social animals.

Social recommendation accounts for 26 percent of purchases across all product categories.

Human beings are social creatures. We are social not just in the trivial sense that we like company, and not just in the obvious sense that we each depend on others. We are social in a more elemental way: simply to exist as a normal human being requires interaction with other people.”

Atul GawandeSurgeon and

journalist

In order to forecast social interactions in the future, it is significant to acknowledge the effect of

technology on social interactions today • Technological advancements have changed the way people:

– Work– Travel – Share and comminucate– Educate– Entertain– Seek information – Shop – Find love

• Technology has had a significant effect on social interactions e.g. exponential increase in Social Media users.

• In today's society, technology is so far integrated that we are overwhelmed with a lack of privacy and an overload of data. This is resulting in people lacking social skills and being more comfortable to communicate and hide behind a screen, leading technology to dominate our everyday life. 03/05/2023 IE - Master in Management (english) &

Technological trends which have impacted social interactions and are excepted to grow Simplicity Nowadays technology simplifies most aspects of life, e.g. from having a driver at the click of a finger [read Uber] to communication via various forms of social media. Leads people today to have developed an expectancy of convenience and comfort seeking.

MobilityTechnology has changed the term mobility to an open line of communication where mobility now is associated with the constant interactivity between people. With 71% of people actually sleeping with their mobile devices, being mobile has become a requirement within most social interactions with an constant expectancy of being reachable twenty four hours a day.

Big Data and AnalyticsPersonal data has become available for purchases and has created an opportunity for better marketing. With 90% of the worlds data being created in the past 2 years , it raises a question of how this information will be managed and construed by companies to utilize and manage customer interaction.

The influences I find likely to impact social interactions in 2027

Page 8: The Impact of Technology on Social Interaction

A Global Labour MarketA greater diversity in business is believed to benefit the labour market. Gender and ethical diversity will constitute a greater variety of thoughts which will drive innovation.

There will be an increase in flat organisational structures where the usage of outsourcing is believed to grow simultaneously. This will lead to a more independent company and employee with an increase in Ad-Hoc Services. The employer will, thus, have a greater variety of suppliers and resources globally.

A digitalisation of the individual To a greater extent, individuals will become more digital; what we buy, how we buy etc.

Social Networks will have a major role in the digitalisation process where it will represent comprehensive platform for socialisation and instantaneous communication worldwide. Therefore, will we see a exponential development in virtual technology which will be integrated into Social Networks.

Personal devices will become faster and of increased capasity – optimising the digitalisation of the individual person. Digital footprints will be perpetual and will follow people for life. In the future, such footprints will strongly influence how people act online and impact the Recruitment & Selection Hiring Process. The digitalisation trend is visible where the future president of the USA, Donald Trump, now has moved away from the standardised political communication procedure and is now sporadically posting political statements on Twitter.

Increased digital communication within business Predominately based on increased migrations, due to social disturbance, wars and conflicts, the cost for the individual country is believed to grow and is likely to weaken the nation's ability to maintain social security benefits to its own citizens. This is likely to result in a restoration of national borders of the individual nations, e.g. despite the Schengen Agreement in Europe. In regards to social interactions, this is believed to restrict the current free movement of labour and thus increase the digital communication across borders in a business context. Various innovations of approaches to digital communication is also deemed to escalate, e.g. a universal translator. This will be specially apparent in the Healthcare Industry where digital communication will further revolutionise by introducing virtual care services.

Information overload

Information will become instantaneously searchable directly from wearable technology. Humans will be accustomed to instant information where innovations such as the Google glasses (glasses that displays information) will have been integrated in to our everyday life.

A sharing economyChanging industrial structures is believed to further introduce the sharing economy through Internet-based platforms and business models.

The sharing economy will constitute a new user behaviour with a decrease in transaction costs which will create opportunities for new products and services to lower price points.

An example of this can be a car used by family by day time, as a taxi in the evening and for private chauffeurs at night time - optimising the usage of the car.

Page 13: The Impact of Technology on Social Interaction

“Location Awareness”A further emphasis on mobility is expected to influence social interactions where constant availability will play a significant role in social interactions of the future. This is already visible where smartphones automatically react to the holders physical location.

This will create an opportunity for “geo-fencing” amongst marketers, generating new approaches to individually based market communications.

Due to such extraordinary levels of transparency and technology, maintaining ones privacy will almost become impossible.

Cognitive computing I believe a major resource area for the next decade will be the development within cognitive computing which refers to the advancements of computers that will help us think, rather than the current usage of most computers where we are using computers to assist us in the thinking process.

Examples of this today are, Siri for the iPhone, Intelligent Parking Assist System (and driving) for cars, IBMWatson, etc.

Changes in social interactions

Within the next 10 years, social interactions will intensify as the importance of relationships will increase.

Instant communication is believed to be further integrated in our daily life where social media will play an increased role in the development of new innovations within a personal and business context.

Digital footprints will be perpetual and will follow people for life, and thus be decisive in Recruitment Processes.

Personal relationships will increase in importance as memories will become easier to access and live longer. The digitalisation of the individual person will simplify the process of creating an ideal appearance. However, will create challenges in regards to an easy access to most peoples private property, e.g. memories etc. Therefore, selections will be based on reputation that will most likely influence social interactions profoundly. Networks will thus be emphasised both in business and personal life, which will mostly be based on digital arenas.

Cognitive computing is also believed to influence how we interact with people as it will be assisted by technology. E.g. who to invite to the movies, scheduling with your friends, etc.

HOWEVER,

03/05/2023 IE - Master in Management (english) & Master in International Relations

Technology will play an important part in how we will engage with each other in the future and humans will go to a greater extent to be dependent on such technology.

However, the interaction will still be through human communication and intent where the importance of personal interactions [such as face-to-face meetings] will be intensified and necessary to maintain a healthy living. Humans are adaptable species and will continuously develop and adapt to new ways of interactions, with and without technology.
