The Mustangs are 14-6 overall and have won eight of their last nine matches. LSC WOMEN’S TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP The Lone Star Conference Women’s Tennis Championship will be held April 24-25 at the Streich-Henry Tennis Complex in Lawton, Okla. Four women’s teams - Midwestern State, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Cameron, Tarleton State - will be competing for the LSC Tournament title. Play starts Friday with women’s semifinal matches at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. MSU, the top seed, faces No. 4 TSU, while No. 2 TAMUK plays No. 3 CU. The championship match is set for Saturday at 10 a.m. The tournament format is nine-point matches with three, eight-game Pro Sets being used for doubles and six best of three-sets being used for singles. Six courts will be assigned to each match. All singles matches will start 10 minutes after the doubles are completed. The match will stop when one team reaches 5 points. TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK WOMEN’S Mariaxi Herrera, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, JR, Ibarra, Ecuador, Los Arrayanes Herrera defeated regionally-ranked Erika Richarme, 6-3, 6-3, in No. 1 singles and she and Marija Dimitrovska earned a doubles No. 1 victory, 8-5, as TAMUK finished the regular season 13-10 overall, 2-1 in LSC play and on a three-match win streak... Herrera is ranked No. 11 in the ITA South Central Region singles rankings and No. 8 in doubles after concluding her junior regular season 12-8 overall (five wins coming versus regionally-ranked opponents) and 14-9 in doubles No. 1.
