BT Contract Update• Signed contract in late August 2013
• £16.9m to deliver SFBB (>24Mbps) to increase coverage from 75% to 92.3% - 50,000 premises (further 2,500 on “Slow NGA”)
• Infrastructure• Fibre to the Cabinet – 280 Cabinets• Small amount of FTTP – may change• Commitment to ensure 2Mbps min. to all premises (Satellite, BET)
• £1.1m of District funding to increase to 93.8% - 4,400 premises (Feb 2014). VfM for each District Council!

Deployment
• Completed mobilisation – project team in place; BT, Openreach• Currently planning Phase 1 – on-site survey of BT infrastructure
• Condition of ducts, access to power, space in the existing Cabinet, new fibre Cabinet location.
• c.50 Cabinet locations under investigation – Mainly in HDC, CBC and MBC.• Expect to announce Phase 1 locations in July 2014 – revise map
• Deployment is currently on-track - summer 2014-spring 2016 – c.280 Cabinets• Strong partnership – Highways, Planners, Conservation Officers.
• Issues are likely to be ahead of us!• Fibre spine – rodding, trenching• Power in rural areas• Exchange Only cabinets – c.80. Will require network re-arrangement
• Will affect the coverage extent, location and timetable of the deployment.

• Stakeholder engagement – working with district and borough councils and voluntary organisations to ensure a consistent message.
• Expectation and reputation management – there will be problems with the roll out, trying to manage residents expectations.

• Government objective to deliver 95% superfast broadband by 2017• Allocations announced 25th February - £250m• £4.04m (largest in E. Mids) - £2.94m – County; £1.1m – City
• Requires local match - £2m LLEP (tbc); £2m LCC (tbc)• Allocation has not taken account of District investment
