Some thoughts to share, as we turn another year older…Some thoughts to share, as we turn another year older…
EngAge Wellness is celebrating it’s 4th year of operation on February 4, 2015!!
New equipment consists of 5 cardiovascular & 4 strength training machines, which are the most recent
additions to our renovation.
Group movement classes continue to draw in many participants. The total attendance for the month of
January was 522.
A total of over 230 participants are actively enrolled in the EngAge program.
Great partnerships continue to develop… The Eastern Nebraska Office on Aging (ENOA) is currently
subsidizing FallProof class & the Diabetes Prevention Program. We are also partnering with Elmwood
Tower to offer our 4th Annual Health Fair and Living Well class.
Exercise is Medicine referrals from doctors have continued to increase. We received 31 new referrals
last month (in January) alone!
We are blessed to have each & every one of you as part of the EngAge family, and thank you for
sharing your wellness journey with us!
Extravagant Style Show Fundraiser scheduled for October 1, 2015 at the Field Club.
Let’s Move! is our newest group movement class which is held on Monday & Wednesday evenings
from 5:30-6:15pm and taught by Michelle Salerno.
Living Well Chronic Disease Self-Management class continues to thrive. Jeannie & Christy are
currently teaching their 5th class.
New educational classes include the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) and A Time to Heal.
Enjoying the friendships that have been made, Chat Café is now bigger than ever! We’re happy to see
so many participants embracing the social aspect of wellness and welcoming new people with open
arms. It’s such a positive environment & truly an enjoyable time. Thank you to all of our wonderful
cooks & bakers, for sharing your talents of making delicious food! Summer (particularly July) will be an exciting time for both of our Wellness Specialists! Heather will be
having a baby and Sara is getting married!
Sincere thanks goes out to everyone for helping to make the past four years successful. We appreciate
all your love & support, and look forward to the years ahead!!
“Exercise Tip of the Month” Brought to you by your Wellness Specialists, Heather and Sara Know Your Limits!
Whether you’re using the machines, or participating in a group movement
class, make sure that you always listen to your body and pay attention to
how you feel. Keeping in mind that proper form & technique are very
important, you know your own limits & what feels best. Only do what you
can!!
Maybe there’s a machine that you can only do 10 repetitions on, instead
of 12 or 15… Or maybe you can’t use full range of motion when doing a
particular exercise in class… If there’s something you’re unable to do,
that’s perfectly ok! Please remember that you can always modify or skip
any given exercise if you’re not able to do it, or if you get tired. Also, if
you’re ever in class and feel like you need to sit down, then go right
ahead! You don’t need our permission to do so.
It’s our goal to have everyone exercising at their full potential, but it’s also
a priority to make sure that you’re doing it safely!
As you have probably noticed, our new strength
machines are now hooked up & ready to use! If you have not yet
been shown how to use them, please be sure to ask one of the staff
members for help. It’s important to know how to use the machines properly
(and to check if they are appropriate for you to be using). Thank you!

Not only is February 14th Valentine’s Day… it’s also National Donor Day! National Donor Day is focused on five points of life: organs, tissues, marrow, platelets, and blood. Many nonprofit health organizations sponsor blood and marrow drives and organ/tissue sign-ups across the nation. This day was started in 1998 by the Saturn Corporation and its United Auto Workers partners with the support of the U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services and many nonprofit health organizations. Please visit organdonor.gov to learn more!
