From the Pastor: Jesus said, “Let children come to me.” Then, he blessed them and referred to them as an inspir-ing example. Jesus wants us to crave the good and simple things that children want, and like children, to be relentless

and focused in our pursuit. More than anything chil-dren want to love and be loved, as must we all. As adults who are far from our childhood, a focused longing for the good and simple things for ourselves and others requires “re-birth” in the Holy Spirit. Most adults have already been born in the Holy Spirit in Baptism and Confirmation, and we have the Sacraments of the Eucharist and Reconcil-iation in order to find on-going nourishment and healing. But, do we focus and relentlessly seek such nourishment and renewal? Our parish community attempts to respond to the needs of those seeking renewal by offering 11 weekday Masses in English and 4 Sunday Masses. We also offer 4 Masses each weekend and 1or 2 weekday Masses in Spanish. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered twice daily in English, and weekends in Spanish (English speakers use these times, too). For those who desire to become like a little child in order to enter the Kingdom of God, our parish is offering several key means by which to ex-perience such change. As a Norbertine I am grateful for the assistance we get from St. Norbert Abbey. Of course, Fr. Jack and I are employed by the parish and we do as much as we can. Nonetheless, the regular schedule of Masses and Reconciliation requires helpers. Ad-ditionally, Fr. Willie Van de Loo, a Green Bay dioce-san priest, has helped us with morning Masses for many years. Without a doubt, Deacon Luis Sanchez is an important helper with Sacraments and liturgy. The whole parish staff is doing its best to teach, evangelize and serve parish members. I have raised the question with my Norbertine community about we will effectively serve the needs of St. Willebrord parish in the future. We need a strategy which responds to both the parish needs and to Norbertine resources. Recently 6 young men were at St. Norbert Abbey praying and reflecting about a possible vocation. The “Come and See Weekend” retreat was a helpful time for these young men to observe, listen to Norbertine experiences, and to ask questions. Please pray for them and for St. Norbert Abbey, that we all arrive at Spirit-led de-cisions. Peace, Fr. Andy

The funds will be used to purchase hosts, flowers for the altar, wine and other items that are continuously needed for the altar.

Adult Confirmation Program (RCIA) Starting in September the Department of New Evangeli-zation will again offer a seven-week Adult Confirmation program on the Diocese of Green Bay campus. This seven-week program is both an opportunity for baptized Catholic adults who have received their First Communion to prepare to receive the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the Sacra-ment of Confirmation and to strengthen their relationship with Jesus. Each session will combine prayer, discipleship, and mission to present its theme using these resources: the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults (USCCA), Catechism of the Cath-olic Church (CCC), Alpha videos, and the Bible. Participants will be confirmed at a Diocesan Confirmation Mass Sunday, October 28, 2018.

“Helpers with Hammers” We need volunteers who can direct the work of US and Caribbean volunteer teams as we build simple, 12’ x 16’ wooden houses for families in St. Vincent, St. Lucia and Dominica. The island of Dominica was devastated just a year ago by Hurricane Maria. We replaced a few houses in April, 2018, but we will have more work to do in 2019. We have amateur volunteers who love building and donors willing to provide materials to build the houses. MARY STANDS NEAR THE CROSS OF HER SON

Meditation LEADER: It has often been said “To lose a child is the worst death for a parent to endure.” Mary, in those long hours before the cross, watching Jesus die, perhaps your thoughts returned to Bethlehem, Nazareth or Egypt when He spoke His first word or took His first steps. Or perhaps you remembered searching for Him in Jerusalem or hearing Him preach or helping that young couple at Cana. How horrible it was to face the reality of death! His strength failed. His breath grew labored. The time had come. And yet He spoke to you and consoled you. In His dying He gave life to all, and made you the mother of all people. Prayer ALL: Calvary was the “sign of contradiction” foretold by Simeon. There, birth came to the world through death, and motherhood in the loss of an Only Son. A shadow pierced your heart to reveal the spark of a promise yet to be fulfilled – of sorrow turned to joy. Mary, teach us to wait in darkness for the light. Amen.

Helping Kids... Sometimes kids need a change of pants at school if they fall or get wet. The Social Concerns Committee of St. Willebrord Parish would like to help school children finish their day dry and safe. Un mensaje de nuestro párroco: Jesús dijo: “Dejen que los niños vengan a mí”. Luego, los bendijo y se refirió a ellos como un ejemplo a seguir. Jesús quiere que anhelemos las cosas buenas y simples que los niños quieren, y como los niños,

ser implacables y estar enfocados en nuestra búsqueda. Más que nada, los niños quieren amar y ser amados, que es lo que todos debemos hacer. Como adultos que vivimos nuestra infancia hace mucho tiempo, necesitamos “renacer” en el Espíritu Santo para que nuestro anhelo por las cosas buenas y simples sea reenfocado. La mayoría de los adultos ya han nacido en el Espíritu Santo en el Bautismo y la Confirmación, y tenemos los Sacramentos de la Eucaristía y la Reconciliación para encontrar la nutrición y curación espiritual continua que necesitamos. Pero, ¿nos enfocamos y buscamos implacablemente ese alimento y renovación? Nuestra comunidad parroquial intenta responder a las necesidades de aquellos que buscan la renovación ofreciendo 11 Misas entre semana en inglés y 4 Misas dominicales. También ofrecemos 4 misas cada fin de semana y 1 o 2 misas entre semana en español. El Sacramento de la Reconciliación se ofrece dos veces al día en inglés y los fines de semana en español (los hablantes de inglés también usan estos horarios). Para aquellos que desean llegar a ser como un niño pequeño para ingresar al Reino de Dios, nuestra parroquia ofrece varios medios clave para experimentar tal cambio. Como Norbertino, estoy agradecido por la asistencia que recibimos de St. Norbert Abbey. Por supuesto, el P. Jack y yo trabajamos en la parroquia y hacemos todo lo que podemos. No obstante, el horario regular de Misas y Reconciliación requiere ayudantes. Además, el P. Necesitamos una estrategia que responda tanto a las necesidades de la parroquia como a los recursos Norbertinos. Reciente- mente, 6 jóvenes estaban en la Abadía de St. Norbert orando y reflexionando sobre su posible vocación a la vida religiosa. El retiro de fin de semana "Ven y Ve”, fue una experiencia útil para que estos jóvenes observaran, escucharan las experiencias de algunos Norbertinos y hicieran preguntas. Touch group, es un grupo encargado de llevar comunión y visitar enfermos, además organiza Memorial Mass (Misa Anual donde recordamos a nuestros familiares fallecidos). Social Concerns, se encarga de las necesidades en nuestra sociedad. Este grupo colecta varios artículos para instituciones como Golden House, escuelas, cocina para el Shelter, y ayuda con el Giving Tree (El Árbol de Obsequios en Navidad). Santuary Society, este grupo se encarga de todo lo necesario para el Altar como; hostias, vino, flores, etc. Realizando venta de panecitos y rifas para recaudar fondos y comprar todo lo necesario.

Estos grupos se reúnen solo una vez al mes, sea parte de ellos y done su tiempo y talento a una cau-sa buena. Siéntete útil en tu propia comunidad…

venta de pasteles el fin de semana del 20 al 21 de octubre después de cada misa.

Si puede donar algunos productos horneados para recaudar fondos, tráigalos por favor al salón de

Reuniones junto de la iglesia el sábado 20 de octubre entre las 1:00 p.m. y 4:30 p.m.

Maria al Pie de la Cruz de su Hijo Meditación LIDER: Comúnmente se dice que, “la muerte de un hijo es la peor muerte que un padre o madre debe soportar.” Maria, en esas largas horas ante la cruz, viendo como moría tu amado hijo Jesús, quizás tu pensamiento te llevó de nuevo a Belén, a Nazareth o a Egipto, o al momento en que pronunció su primera palabra o cuando dio sus primeros pasos. O tal vez recordaste aquella ocasión buscándolo en Jerusalén o escuchándolo predicar, o cuan-do ayudó a aquella joven pareja en Cana. ¡Que horrible debió haber sido el enfrentar la cruda realidad de su muerte! Sus fuerzas fallaban. Cada momento respiraba con más dificultad. Había llegado la hora. Y aun así, él te habló y te consoló. En su agonía nos dio vida a todos, y te hizo madre de la humanidad . Oración TODOS: El Calvario fue el símbolo de “contradicción” anunciado por Simón. Allí, el mundo nació a través de la muerte, y la mater-nidad ante la pérdida de un Hijo Único. Una sombra atravesó tu corazón para revelar la luz de una promesa que aún estaba por cumplirse – de dolor convertido en gozo. Enséñanos Maria, a esperar en la oscuridad a que llegue la luz. Amen .
