On that Friday we served a bit over 400 meals and, while we had a few “bumps in the road”, I am always amazed how our team gets everything accomplished great work. A big thanks to all who helped out from inventory, ordering, set -up, order takers, those accepting cash/credit card payments, cooks, meal servers, runners, desserts, drinks, bar, dishwashers, cleanup whether you worked outside at the concession stand or inside many thanks. And, once again, thanks to the Ladies Auxiliary and to all the wives who helped out. Please keep the desserts coming. As a former GK stated, “Not saying that men cannot cut it, but we really like the way you slice it”. With this said, we still need more help for the remaining fish fries. If you helped last Friday, - see you again this Friday. If you were busy and unable to help last week, we need your help. We invite you to join us this Friday. We especially need some help to cleanup and reset the cafeteria after serving. Tasks normally take about one hour (7:00-8:00 pm). If you can help put away FF supplies, help fold up tables and sweep the floor - we need your assistance on Friday. As demonstrated by our teamwork at the fish fries, the season of Lent is a great time to show how we, as Brother Knights are involved with all parts of our parish’s life and continue to Build the Domestic Church (BDC) at SEAS. In a recent Knight’s article, I read that all Knights are invited to use Lent as a “Formation of the Heart - a heart that is merciful, gives itself freely for others. A heart that lets itself be pierced by the spirit so as to bring love along the roads that lead to our brother and sisters. During this Lent, let us all as the Lord to make our hearts like yours”. I am pleased to let you know the Council received a $500 check from Supreme under the KC Food for Families Reimbursement Program. This program recognizes the Council's eorts - our volunteer hours and donations to No Hunger Holiday, Fr Bob Gettinger's Outreach, Thanksgiving Turkey Drive and Food For the Poor. Thanks to everyone who made these programs successful. Thanks to Brother Clarke Winkle for hosting the recent blood drive. I am pleased to report that 21 people donated blood. The Council will be hosting a First Degree Ceremony at our next meeting, March 1 st . If you know of someone who would like to join us, please contact Brother Jim Ebone or myself. Please remember to say three Hail Mary’s for the end of abortion and terrorism. Feel free to contact myself or any of the ocers with questions, concerns and or issues regarding any of our Council activities. Remember, this is your Council. So, speak up and get involved - “drive the bus” (or at least consider being the backup driver)!
