The inaugural pre-launch of the MANIFESTO MAGALOG was designed to paint a picture of the Society Socials and illustrate who we are as a brand before there was even a website to share. Thanks to the support of so many designers, bloggers, the media, and more, we’re approaching our one year anniversary, and I’m honored, humbled, and over-the-moon excited to show you who the Socials really are.

This issue of the MANIFESTO MAGALOG will include the same entertaining tips, decorating advice, and shopping round-ups you’ve seen before, as well as a new peek into the homes of the very people who make this all possible!

You’ll also find a sneak peek of our forthcoming designs that will debut in part II of the MANIFESTO MAGALOG in July.

I hope you enjoy and as always with a full and infinitely grateful heart, I thank you for making Society Social a reality!

Cheers, Roxy

1. Don’t be afraid to move your furniture around or even remove it from a room to create a space perfectly fit for your specific entertaining needs. Dance party? Lose the coffee table.

2. If you’re pulling from your desk to the living room for extra seating, a pretty ribbon or custom seat covers can unify a mismatched look.

3. Not having an extra coat closet doesn’t mean you should relegate your guests’ belongings to a sloppy heap on the floor. For a couple dollars buy remov-able, reusable, and temporary command strip hooks to position by the door for coats and bags. For a super special touch, spray paint them a pop of color or add a name tag! A small gesture but one that will not soon be

Our classic Piper features a removable bow that comes in 11 colors of your choice. Dress her up or down just as you would yourself!

Page 14: Society Social Manifesto Magalog II

4. Take it outside! Start with pre-dinner cocktails on a rooftop or any outdoor space. The change of venue from cocktail hour to dinner table will add the type of delightful ceremony that contributes to the making of a memorable event.

Cocktails with a fellow Manhattanite designer, a rooftop in Chelsea, and flags flying highball style!

Fresh blooms are the type of decor that you don’t have to take down when the party is over. Photography and styling by Camila of Effortless Style.

5. Free up precious counter and tabletop space by keeping the decor minimal or go big, but scatter or hang when you can.

6. For a social big or small, take the time to procure a household guest book. Your visi-tors will feel as if they are signing in to quite the event, and you’ll have a lovely memento for years to come.

7. Opt for vertical serving dishes! Food on display can be artful and a platter that takes up less area is perfect for avoiding a cluttered table.

8. Fill your sink with ice, display a DIY drink menu in an on-hand picture frame, and you’ll have an instant beverage station.

Page 16: Society Social Manifesto Magalog II

9. Don’t like going sans sink? Display your beverages on a side table or invest in a bar cart that can serve as a buffet for not only booze but also food and snacks. Find one on casters with stem ware and wine racks and you can serve a post-party storage need as well.”

10. Often times dishes pile up from course to course and can be quite an eyesore for a small kitchen. Whip up finger foods for appetizers or desserts and eliminate the need for additional china and utensils.

11. Label your cupboards. Limited countertop space doesn’t lend to displaying all your glass-ware and dining necessities so make it convenient if guests have to help themselves to a teacup or extra silverware. You’ll make your job easier as the hostess and the scandalous table topic will go on uninterrupted!

12. Invest in multi-purpose furniture; think folding, mobile, and easy to store!

After the guests have gone just fold down The Dinner Party Table and style as an entryway table. It folds down to 7 inches!

Page 20: Society Social Manifesto Magalog II

13. Skip the beer, wine, and assorted spirits and serve up a signature cocktail. You’ll need less glassware and less space!

The Hostess Server in pink.

14. A small space can be cozy and inti-mate, but it can also get warm fast. Turn down the thermostat just a few degrees lower than normal to accommodate for all the hot bodies!

15. It can feel silly to dress up when entertaining in a small space that has doubled as everything from a living room to a bed-room, but take the time to dress yourself as you would your party. The hostess sets the tone for the entire evening so answer the door as sparkly as you expect your evening to be and your guests are sure to follow suit.

CAMILA PAVONE“My number one tip for en-tertaining is fresh blooms! I try not to worry too much about the perfect table set-ting, but I do love placing some fresh flowers on my dining room table for meal time and in my entry way to welcome guests. I always run to my local Fairway and pick up a colorful mix and then go to town at home with some floral foam. The floral foam really helps your finished product look like something a floral designer came up.”

THE KEY TO A SENSAT ION AL SOC IALA hostess at ease is a sparkly Society Social hostess indeed! Answer the door a fluster and your mood will surely dampen your merry-making revelries. We asked our favorite bloggers how to entertain with the sophisticated swagger that will take you and your guests to the tops of tables and to the bottom of your highballs!

VICTORIA H. “My top tip for a sensational social is to be original and organic in your planning. No one likes a social where ev-erything is stiff and perfectly set into place. Have some fun with the decor, add in bright colors and special detailed touches but most of all make it about the people you have invited!”

asubtlerevelry.com

CAMILLE STYLES“When I'm hosting a cock-tail or dinner party, I always turn up the music just a little too loud. It instantly changes the energy in the room and makes it feel like a real party. If I'm lucky, it might even inspire a little after-dinner dance party!”

camillestyles.com

CASSANDRA LAVALLE

“Entertaining at home is all about making your guests comfortable! Let them keep their shoes on, or take 'em of. Give them plenty of places to sit, eat and set their drink. Put together a great playlist that doesn't overpower con-versation, but sets the tone for the party, and ALWAYS do something to transform the house into a festive space - even if it's as simple as using fun dishes and lighting tons of candles!”

GRACE ATWOOD“Know that rule about tak-ing one piece of jewelry off before you walk out the door?  When I'm entertain-ing, I do the exact opposite, adding on at least one more piece of jewelry than I think is necessary.  As the hostess, you have to sparkle!”

stripesandsequins.com

A PIECE OF TOAST"Making people feel comfort-able with an environment that's coordinated (for the hostess' sake) but not stuffy (for guests). We've all been at a party where the atmo-sphere feels up tight or too formal and its no fun when you feel like you can't be yourself at a soirée!  We keep drinks and food casual but delicious - imported beer, sangria, addictive dips, and filling sliders - and make sure to have a wicked good playlist going.  Guests sit can kick back and we always make sure to be having as much fun as everyone else!"

COLLEEN N.If you’re hosting a dressed-up cocktail party, forget the evite. Mail simple but chic invitations instead. Paper invitations lend formality, giving the hint your fete is a pearls and heels occasion!

VICTORIA MCGINLEY“Don't be afraid to purchase pretty dishes, bowls, vases, and glassware from antique stores, garage sales, you name it. I used to think to myself, "When am I ever going to use this?" but have found over the years that transferring store bought goodies—dips like hummus or pesto, olives, breadsticks, you name it—into a more interesting looking vessel instantly elevates the feel of the food table. It doesn't matter how much time you spent actually making a food item...Guests eat with their eyes first!”

DECORATING TIPS FOR EVERY HOME

4These peonies are from our mom’s garden and they always add an instant boost of positive energy to any room.

Fresh flowers. An obvious that is often overlooked. Think of them as the delightful cherry on top or a spirited squeeze of lime, not entirely necessary, but why not?!

4It was day two of our shoot with Styled Creative and out of sheer exhaustion and induced ridiculous, we decided to name him ‘Leroy.’ Immediate laughter ensued!

Don’t be afraid to add a touch of whimsy in an unexpected place. Choose meaningful items that will be sure to add a smile to your day and you’ll also have a charm-ing anecdote to recite to amused guests upon their discovery!

4A mid-century modern Society Social Vintage chair plays off the novelty of our faux python Draper.

Mix it up with a vintage item or two. A found item can give a room roots and add excitement to a design scheme especially in a high contrast juxtaposition.

Mix textures! One too many slick surfaces can make a room feel cold. Adding tactile elements with contrast-ing flair gives depth and interest.

VINTAGE!

Don’t let the name of a piece of furniture, or the lack thereof, keep you from thinking outside of the box. A desk can be a bedside table, a bar cart an accent table, and a burlap pouf an end table.

4Just add a tray to create a flat surface for books, beverages, and more!

4We stand by our belief that it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring!

Get creative with storage. Don’t shove all your pretty baubles in a drawer even if you can.

Use command strips to hang pictures on wallpaper—you don't want to damage it with nails.

If you’re on a budget and can’t afford art or wallpaper for a large blank wall, try using a tapestry.  You can find them pretty cheap and they make a big impact.

Alexandra’s Duchesses, Blogger at Frenemom & fabulous Mommy, LA

“Due to the layout of my one bedroom charmer on the corner of Richmond, Virginia’s historic Monument avenue, my Sedgewick serves as both an entry table of sorts and a cocktail cart o fun. Because of this dual pur-pose, to me it was important that it encompassed my personal design aesthetic, but also included a certain vintage quirk factor.  I wanted to give a nod to the bar cart’s roots - including a 1950’s brass fly ashtray from my go-to antique hideaway, a warhol-esque painting of our family dog Penny Lane done by my favorite artist (Mom), and my grandfather’s cocktail shaker and jigger with which he made his signature martinis every single night.  It’s by far my favorite piece because it serves a functional entertaining purpose while also telling the unique story of each and keepsake it features.”

“When your “child” turns to “tween”, create a room that will be the perfect place to hang out with friends, spend time studying, and get plenty of much-needed sleep. Before long, your  in-between “tween” will be a “grown-up” teen, so be sure to design a nice mix of playful details, pops of favorite (but mature) colors, and age-appro-priate “cool” décor (no more baby stuff!).”

Society Social calls for living sparkly and this time of year shines like no other! All I have to do is step outside and I’m surrounded with colorful blooms and warm rays of bright sunshine. It’s also a season full of surprises and what social worth her weight in sparkle doesn’t like surprises? I never know what will pop up in the garden or when I’ll be caught off guard by an unannounced rain shower that is sure to put a smile on my face. Is there any better time of year to be frolicking outdoors?

Warmer weather calls for social surprises too! Invite your friends and neighbors for an impromptu day of lawn games. Prepare for your soiree by accessorizing and stocking your bar cart because a day of outdoor fun calls for sensational sippers. I’ve mixed up four dazzling elixirs that will keep your guests cool while they work the turf. Whether it’s a charm-ing game of croquet, a dashing game of badminton, a merry game of horseshoes or a blissful game of bocce ball, your spirited day of sport is sure to be a smashing success!
