YEAR 12 MID YEAR ASSESSMENT ADVICE

Dear Year 12 students,

Tomorrow, is the start of your Mid-Year Assessments, and as I have stated previously, as educators we are all

committed to ensuring that you remain connected with the learning process in this current climate as we prepare

you for the Higher School Certificate.

The NSW Education Standards and Authority (NESA) Board on the 24 March, confirmed that the HSC is going

ahead in 2020. As a society we recognise that we are all facing an unprecedented situation, however, every

student will get a Higher School Certificate this year.

In light of this information, as Principal, I will ensure that every Year 12 student is supported and encouraged to

achieve her personal best to allow her to continue her dreams and future aspirations.

The school has currently taken extra measures to support your health and wellbeing as your preparation for the

HSC is of paramount importance. The school has adhered to the NSW Health advice and has taken all precautions

in regards to your health and safety. See attached guidelines which you must strictly adhere to.

The assessment tasks that will be completed in the next 8 days will give you an opportunity to reflect on your

strengths and areas for further improvement as you will have completed 50% of all courses. Your teachers will

provide you with individualised feedback and this will allow you to further focus in developing the skills and the

knowledge that you need in preparation for the final HSC exam.

Every Year 12 girl will receive a Mid-Year report next term. This will allow you and your parents to have a very

clear understanding of how you are progressing since we have moved to a remote learning mode of delivery.

In Term 2 each one of you will be interviewed about your progress.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at school on 9746 6990.

Finally, remember that at Strathfield Girls during these challenging times, teaching and learning still remains a

priority and the school is committed to continuing its high standard of instruction and support.

I know that every one of you can and will do it.

Yours sincerely,

Angela Lyris

STRICT GUIDELINES TO BE FOLLOWED BY ALL STUDENTS

Please check the timetable below to see new exam venues.

You are expected to be at school at least 15 minutes prior to your exam.

DO NOT come to school earlier than 15 minutes prior to each exam.

If your exam is in the Hall, you must enter and exit via the Albert Road main pedestrian gate.

If your exam is in S Block, you must enter and exit via the Oxford Road canteen gate.

On arrival, you will be escorted to the designated exam venue to a desk with your name on

it.

Place your bag under your chair. Remember all mobile phones must be switched off.

Read all your exam rules carefully.

When travelling to and from school on public transport, you must adhere to the social

distancing requirements and take the necessary health and safety precautions.

The library will be open for student waiting for their second exam of the day. The Librarian will

direct you to a suitable seat.

At the end of your exam, you will be dismissed individually and you are reminded not to

congregate outside the school, in Homebush and Strathfield.

Please note, the canteen facilities are not available.

Your continued support in these challenging times is greatly appreciated as we are all working together

so that you can achieve the best in your HSC.
