There are a range of staircases thatcan be used to access the mezzaninefloor comprising of various widths,styles and finishes, whether it bepaint finished for industrial use orcarpeted for office or retail use. Allstaircases comply with either Part Kor Document M of the BuildingRegulations

ANCILLARy ITEMS

As well as the mezzanine floor structure itself, there are many other components that can beincorporated into the project design to accommodate your individual needs. Pallet gates, swing gates &handrail sliding sections can be positioned at the edges of the mezzanine floor to facilitate safe & easyloading & unloading of stock. Vertical ladders can be used for access & escape, positioned to suit the site layout and incorporated into the mezzanine floor design. Openings & voids can be designedspecifically to allow conveyors or lifts to access each level.

BUILDING REGULATIONS

Every mezzanine floor is designed to comply with the current BRE Code of Practice& all relevant Building Regulations, so approval is swiftly obtained on your behalf.

Mobile Shelving

Mobile shelving can be opened & closed when required,therefore requiring only one aisle for access. This meanscapacity within a given area can be substantiallyincreased.

Comparison of storage costs is most easily achieved bycalculating a storage factor for each type of equipment.This is simply the result of dividing the capacity (in lin-ear metres) by the area occupied (in square metres)including the area necessary to access the records. Thehigher the storage factor the more efficient the equip-

ment.

For example:● A four drawer filing cabinet holds 2.2 linear metres of

records and occupies 0.75 sq m.These examples are based on a like for like area.

MAXIMISING THE AVAILABLE SPACE

Mobile shelving is the most effective way to store records. This can be shown in the table below, where a working exampleshows the different options for storing 105 metres of filing.
