EUCHARISTIC INTENTION

The bread and wine for Sunday, July 5th through Saturday, July 11th has been donated in Thanksgiving for the Apostles and Disciples of the early Church and All of Today’s disciples by Anonymous.

BREAD AND WINE OFFERING Looking for a special gift? You may donate the bread and wine used in our church for one week. The donation is $150. Your intention will be placed in a bulletin for the week of your gift. This is a beautiful way to remember someone special for any occasion. Contact the Parish Office if you are interested.

It’s a little thing, but it means a lot… It’s not often that we get the opportunity to make someone happy, or feel more comfortable, especially at little or no cost, and with no extra time for us. So many of our older parishioners want to come back to church, but they are afraid to do so. They are so afraid of being exposed to the COVID virus. Some just aren’t ready, afraid they will catch the virus, no matter what precautions we take. Others would come, but some have mentioned that they have seen parishioners in church not wearing masks, and that is their reason for not returning. I really find it difficult to understand why some parishioners do not wear masks. I have repeatedly asked everyone to do so. No matter how healthy we are, we would make those older parishioners happy and comfortable to return to mass and be able to receive the Eucharist just by wearing a mask for one hour. I said last week; I don’t like to wear a mask, and don’t think anyone does. But if I can do that for someone else, and it’s easy and only for an hour, why wouldn’t I?

There is still an important way we can stay informed regarding church happenings. Use Flocknote. It is FREE and easy. Just follow the following directions: Go on the St. Lucie Church website – www.stlucie.cc – and click onto the Flocknote icon on the home page. This is an easy way to join our St. Lucie site and stay informed.

WEEKLY OFFERINGS Even though collection baskets will be available in the narthex for your envelope drop off, now might be a good time for parishioners to give online with their donations. Online giving makes more sense than ever. If in the past, you have felt self-conscious about not putting an envelope in the basket, know that for the time being no baskets will be “passed” under the new guidelines. Also, it is sanitary (your hands never have to touch a basket). It is efficient for you and saves St. Lucie check and envelope printing charges. Best yet, you never have to remember to bring a check or cash to church. It is easy to sign up for online giving by going to stlucie.cc and clicking on the online icon. If you need help phone Doreen Recco at the office.

Salvation is not something we achieve but something we receive.

BAPTISMAL CLASS Completion of a Baptismal class is an absolute requirement for having your child baptized. It is most likely easiest to accomplish when the mother is still pregnant. This relieves the anxiety of leaving a newborn for a few hours under someone else’s care. If you have questions, phone Isabel Ricaurte at the Parish Office at 878-1215.

HURRICANE PRAYER God our Father, Creator of the Universe and Lord over all creation, we humbly stand before you as your children in thanksgiving for your loving care and protection. We ask that you keep us safe from all hurricanes which may threaten us in the coming seasons. Protect us from all fear and anxiety of storms and give us an ardent trust and hope in Your love and mercy. You alone have the power to command the sea, the wind and the rain. You alone bring peace, calm, and safety. Father, we thank you in advance, for you are our only Refuge. We ask this through Christ Your Son, Who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen. Mary, Queen of the Apostles, and Patroness of

our Diocese, pray for us.

LOW-GLUTEN (0.01%) HOSTS We provide low-gluten hosts for those with Celiac Disease. Please inform the priest or deacon prior to the celebration of the Mass; at communion time, approach the priest celebrant who will have this sacred host.

INCOMPLETE PEW ENVELOPES If using a white pew envelope, please note your first and last name along with your address and phone number. Recently we have received some generous donations listing only the first name and an account number that was nonexistent. This does not allow posting and the donor might need records for income tax. Please take the extra minute to have your envelope complete.

LAPTOPS FOR FRANCISCAN SEMINARY

IN VENEZUELA

This campaign aims to collect used “laptops”, but in good condition, to enable a computer room for the Franciscan Missionary Seminary “San José” in Táchira, Venezuela. In this seminary there are around 25 young people who are being formed to be Franciscan Friars. We will receive your laptop donations in the parish office Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 4:15 PM. If you have questions call (772) 878-1215. We would greatly appreciate your support!

PRAYER CHALICE FOR VOCATIONS Our “traveling” Prayer Chalice makes a weekly journey to parishioner homes. Volunteers take the Prayer Chalice at any one of the Sunday Masses, bring it home, place it in a visible location within the home, and pray daily before it with prayers to promote vocations within the Church. The chalice must be returned by 4:00 PM on Saturday so that it is available for the next volunteer family. Prayers will accompany the chalice, but one may opt to pray other prayers. Prayer is a beautiful way to keep vocation intentions strong as our heavenly Father calls to hearts. Contact Loretta Barnes at (772) 878-1215 if interested in signing up for a particular week. You select the week!

“OUT OF DATE” FOOD DONATIONS If your food donation to our Soup Kitchen or St. Vincent de Paul is out of date or if you wouldn’t eat it, we can’t donate it! Safety is always paramount. We appreciate your giving heart but please be sure that your donation is within the proper expiration date.

NFP—cooperating with God’s design for married love

In marriage, serious reasons (e.g., financial, physical, psychological, etc.), may arise causing a husband and wife to limit the size of their family. When that happens, the ever-present temptation today is to use a form of contraception, or to be sterilized. But contraception and sterilization are not the answer—they in fact reject God’s gifts. Rather, couples can use authentic family planning methods that are ethical and don’t reject God’s gifts.

Authentic family planning honors God’s design by supporting the love-giving and life-giving nature of sexual intercourse. It promotes generosity, openness to new life, and the value of the child. And, it helps to enrich the marital bond between husband and wife. Authentic family planning builds healthy and holy families. In the world of family planning, only the methods of Natural Family Planning (NFP) can boast of all these characteristics! NFP methods make use of fertility education. NFP education teaches husband and wife about their fertile time (the wife’s ovulation, when an egg is released by her ovary). NFP methods can be used either to attempt a pregnancy or to avoid one. When avoiding, couples abstain from conjugal relations during the fertile time of the wife. No drugs, devices or surgical procedures are used with NFP. Any woman, no matter the variety in her menstrual cycle, can use an NFP method. That is because NFP methods help the wife to recognize her unique signs of fertility which she can observe daily.

BEQUESTS TO ST. LUCIE PARISH “As generous distributors of God’s manifold grace, put your gifts at the service of one another…” (Peter 4:10) As Catholics, we try to be Good Stewards of the many blessings God has bestowed upon us. We also strive to be good short term and long-term planners, so that our loved ones, and our Church and other charities are recipients of these blessings. Effective estate planning not only avoids future difficulties, but more importantly, honors our directives in aiding the people and institutions that are under our responsible care. Remembering St. Lucie Catholic Church will continue the Lord’s saving presence to us and to our families in so many wonderful ways: the celebration of the Eucharist and other Sacraments, the religious education of our youth and adults, our ministries with the sick, the poor and the homeless, and the upkeep of our parish facilities. Consider including our parish in your estate planning – it is a joy you can plan ahead.

POOR CLARE NUNS TO PRAY FOR US The nuns of the Poor Clare Monastery in Delray Beach have agreed to pray for our intentions. Cards are located on the tables in the back of the church. If you have a special intention, please complete one of these cards and put it in the collection basket or give it to one of the friars. Every two weeks or so these cards will be sent to the nuns who will pray for our special intentions. The Poor Clare Nuns, as you probably know, are the contemplative order of Franciscan nuns named after St. Clare of Assisi.

To let go is to surrender; to let God is belief.
