Principal’s Message, What a great effort from the students last night with their play - ‘The Adventures of Captain Starblaster’. Many hours of individual work learning lines and songs. Thumbs up to all the parents who have supported their children throughout this learning activity and for providing a delicious supper.
John Angotti is a full time music missionary who travels throughout many parts of the world providing inspirational music and faith wit-ness to all ages through concerts, workshops, retreats, missions, conferences and worship. He is originally from Clarksburg, West Virginia, and now resides in Franklin, near Nashville, Tennesee. He is a graduate of Chicago Theological Union, West Virginia University and the U.S. Military School of Music, where he was a member of the U.S. Navy Band as lead vocalist. John last visited our dio-
cese in April 2016 for the Norish2Thrive Conference.
Fr. Tony Gittens, C.S. Sp., M.A., Ph.D., is a widely experienced missionary pastor and Professor of Theology and Culture at The Catholic Theological Union since 1984. Born in Manches-ter, England, and ordained in 1967, Fr. Gittins has taught, of-fered workshops, and given retreats in more than 35 countries. He has also worked for almost 30 years with homeless women on the streets of Chicago. Tony last visited our diocese in March 2012.
Last week, Pat our Principal attended a Principal’s retreat with the above speakers. This week on Monday our students attended the Year of Youth Festival Tour day at Jerilderie. This day was lead by Mr John Angotti and was an excellent fun, reflective musical adventure.
PUPIL FREE DAY This is short notice and I apologise for the late call. Next Thursday, 7th June we are having a Pupil Free Day. Teachers will be at school working on school reports. If you need to see any of us about your child’s education, please make an appointment for a time on this day.
Parent Support Group meeting Tomorrow is our next Parent Support Group meeting. The meeting will be held in the school library at 3:30pm. All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. Agenda Items include: School Uniform, Fundraising & Grant Applications, Melbourne Excursion and Student Wellbeing.

School Photos
The school photographers have notified the school that we had been given the incorrect shoot keys to order photo re-prints. The correct shoot keys are noted below: Parents wanting to order duplicate copies of school photos can view and order a photo by visiting www.academyphoto.com.au & go to “Products for Parents” “Order Online”. For School Leaders, you will need to enter the following 8 digit shoot key : JNK9VF88 Whole school shoot key is: E2T73ECS Photographs will be available online for six months, alternatively orders can be made by ringing 1300 7666 472.
Gorgeous Girls Program Our Years 5 & 6 girls have been invited to join in with our Deanery schools to participate in Centacare’s Gorgeous Girls Program. The program facilitated by Centacare, aims to challenge the typical view of what the girls perceive a “Gorgeous Girl” to look like and to accept every girl is different and gorgeous in their own right. Some of the topics covered on the day will be: What I like about me Looking within to your characteristics that are special and unique and being humbly proud of who you are Love the skin you’re in Understanding what body image is, establishing some strategies to support you in developing a healthy sense
of self Friend vs Frenemie The workshop will be held at St. Joseph’s Finley on Monday 18th June.
On Display Each week we will have some of the students work books on display in the office foyer. This week; Jake Hicks & Kate Purtill feature. Come in and have a look when you are at the school!!
Responsible Pet Ownership Program
Next Friday 8th June we will have a visit from the ‘Responsible Pet Ownership Program’. The ‘Living Safely With Pets’platform aims to educate children on what it means to be a responsible pet owner and how to live safely with dogs. It targets students in Years Kinder, Yr 1 & Yr 2. The presentation is deliv-ered using multimedia tools, role play, song and story-telling.
Melbourne Excursion Next Wednesday, 6th June all students and staff will travel to Melbourne to see the stage musical ‘The Wizard of Oz’. Plans for the day are well in hand - details with departure time etc will be sent home next Monday, 4th June.
Athletics Carnival Congratulations to our team who competed in Finley today at the South-West Deanery Athletics carnival. Students who made the team were: Sarah Johnson, Annie McLeod, Oliver Almond, Liam Purtill, Shadan Alsabti, Kate Purtill, Ellie Noonan, Nate Grieves, Cooper Fuller, Jack Wiles, Millie Almond, Ella Baldwin, Hannah Hetherington, Molly McLeod, Vic-toria Kakono, Charlie Johnson, Cooper Mangion, George Wiles, Charlie Haynes, Ella Hollister, Will Noonan, Jake Hicks & Mia Baker. Results of the day will be published in next week’s newsletter.
