Current Position- Superfast coverage now 95% in West

Yorkshire following Phase 1, mainly FTTC

- £13M Phase 2 to increase superfast coverage to >98% in WY and York by September 2018

- New areas set to benefit including rural Kirklees and villages in Outer York

Project Highlights- Partnership working

- Infrastructure roll out on schedule (65,000 prems)

- Business support programme complemented roll out

- Connection Vouchers programme delivered

Lessons Learned- Engagement with ISPs

- Targeted marketing / advertising

- ‘On the ground’ presence needed alongside online activity

- Parish Council engagement

- Clear explanation of alternative options e.g. Satellite scheme, wireless broadband options

Phase 3 – How much is left to do?

- Final 1-2% in West Yorkshire & York

- Altnets to play a big role - e.g. Wireless- UK Government-backed satellite scheme in operation

- FTTC not viable
