Can you help us Provide Help and Create Hope? Are you interested in becoming part of a team that assists others in bettering their lives? Can you donate your
time one morning or afternoon per week for a 4 hour commitment? Families who are confronted by a crisis often
feel helpless and overwhelmed and are not aware of the resources that could benefit them. Catholic Charities
Community Services of Dutchess County is seeking compassionate, patient volunteers with office and clerical
experience willing to assist people in filling out forms, following up phone calls and other office assistance at our
Poughkeepsie agency. CCCSDC provides comprehensive high quality human services to our neighbors of all
religions, particularly the poor and vulnerable, and with the help of our volunteers we can accomplish even more.
For information, please contact Kim Whelly 845-451-4299 or [email protected]
Holy Hour for Healing
The Parishes of Dutchess County will come together in prayer for healing on Monday, November 5 at
7:00pm in the Church of St. Martin de Porres, 118 Cedar Valley Road, Poughkeepsie. Bishop Peter Byrne
will preside. The evening prayer will consist of Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, quiet time for
prayer, recitation of the Holy Rosary, praying the Litany for Healing and Protection and closing with
Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament at 8:00pm. All of our parishioners are invited to attend.
Memorial Mass for All Deceased Children
The annual Memorial Mass for all Deceased Children will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 at
7:30pm at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY.
We welcome all parents, grandparents, relatives and friends who have experienced this loss. Please join
with us as we draw strength from the Eucharist, the Word of God and our mutual support.
Any questions, please call Deacon Alvarado at 227-8380.
Meals on Wheels
Join our Meals on Wheels team! We are looking for those with a heart to care for our Seniors who are shut in
and in need of a hot meal and a warm smile. Drivers, cooks and kitchen help for Monday, Wednesday and Friday
mornings are most welcome. This is a much needed ministry, and so very important to Seniors. Volunteers from
all our local Churches and the broader community are welcome. You will meet salt of the earth people and you
will also be serving folks who will be thrilled to see you! You’ll love it! Contact us at 845-677-3485 or at
[email protected] or check the Lyall website: www.lyallmemorial.org/about3 for more information.
Volunteers can work in the kitchen where cooks prepare the meal, kitchen helpers make sandwiches and package
the lunch bags and meal trays, and drivers deliver the meals to our clients in the Millbrook area. We prepare
meals Monday, Wednesday and Friday (except holidays and during bad weather) from approximately 8:30-
10:00am. Drivers start their rounds at 10:00am. Any drivers from the Clinton Corners area would also be
appreciated. If you could volunteer a day a week or a day per month, or even as an occasional fill-in, let us
know by calling 677-3485.

UNCLE AL’S THRIFT SHOP
It’s time to wrap up Halloween, but if you are a last minute costume shopper, pop in on Monday—prices on
costumes have been slashed. Come November, look for our new window display– hmmm, maybe a Thanksgiving
theme? Do you need dinnerware, serving dishes, placemats or holiday décor? As Thanksgiving approaches, there
is no better place to shop than Uncle Al’s.
The selection of clothing is fantastic! And it’s not just women’s—there is also an abundance of men’s and
children’s clothing in all different sizes. Shoes from practical to elegant, boots, winter hats and gloves, warm
outerwear and cozy sweaters. And the shop has linens and bedding, curtain, books, toys & games, greeting cards
and so many other items, all at bargain prices.
As you know, the 3-day sale at the beginning of October was a great success. And now—another super
spectacular sale is being planned. But that is for later news—be sure to watch future bulletins for exciting details.
Our favorite customer quote of the week: “I love this shop— not just for the good stuff you have here, but for the
spirit here!” Wow—what a nice compliment! And, we love our customers too!

October is the Month of the Holy Rosary
Please remember that the Rosary is prayed each day following our
7:30 morning Mass. All are welcome to join us. During the month of
October, to honor Our Lady, we encourage all families to take at least
one day and pray the Rosary at home as a family. Perhaps it may lead
to doing this a bit more often. Many blessings await those individuals
and families who honor Mary’s request to pray the Rosary daily.
BE A WITNESS TO LIFE: TODAY October 28th, 3:30-5:00pm
Life Chain: Church Street in Poughkeepsie (between Market and Academy Streets).
A Life Chain is a peaceful, prayerful event that enables you to be a witness to the sanctity of human life by
holding a sign with a pro-life message. Signs provided. No graphic or political signs.
