A purpose, an intention, a design, strikes everywhere even the

careless, the most stupid thinker.

David Hume

in·ten·tion

noun \in-ˈten(t)-shən\

Definition of INTENTION

a determination to act in a certain

way : RESOLVE

what one intends to do or bring about

CONCEPT; especially : a concept consideredas the product of attention directed to an

object of knowledge

OUR INTENTION CREATES OUR REALITY

Our intentions shape our choices

Our intentions determine our choices that lead to

outcomes (products)

Two kinds of intentions - conscious and unconscious.

Conscious intentions can produce the intendedoutcomes

Unconscious intentions also produce outcomes but

more often resulted in unintended outcomes

Conscious intention:

- stretching or bending of the mind towards an objective

- determination to act in a certain way or to do a certain thing

- object towards which our thoughts are directed

Conscious intentions are just focused thoughts and everything

worthwhile starts as focused thoughts

Everything is created twice. First in our mind as an intention, and

then in reality

Without that intention, there would be no reality. This is true of

both conscious and unconscious intentions

A building is first created in the mind of the architect before itrises into the air

Your intention creates your reality, so it pays toknow what your intentions are

Unconscious intentions are often the culprit underlying bizarre,

unproductive behaviour and poor results

Systems theorists speculate that the content of the human mind

can be classified into the following five categories (Ackoff, 1989,

pp. 3 – 9; Bellinger et al., 2004):

• Data

• Information• Knowledge

• Understanding

• Wisdom

The first four categories concern what is or has been known about

the present or the past.

Information, for example, answers the questions of ‘‘who,’’  ‘‘what,’’

‘‘where,’’ and ‘‘when’’;

knowledge answers the question of ‘‘how’’; and understanding

provides an appreciation of thequestion ‘‘why’’ (Ackoff, 1989, pp. 3 – 9).

The fifth category, wisdom, concerns the future, enabling the

application of knowledge, understanding, and the utilisation of

information to design and visualise alternative futures.

Intention - we always have an intention first before acting on something

Act - …..however, if intention is not followed by act – it will remain as it is

Product – produced from an action based on intention

Actor – intention must be grounded or realised by an actor

Rules and principles – in whatever type of production, an actor must be

guided by rules and principles

Site – a product must have a place or site in which it is located

Site is a location of built environment ……

requirements and constraint……

Example, the initial intention to produce a new product will force one tolearn the new knowledge or production method by seeing, listening and

differentiating the right or wrong which might set by the authority

Intention

• explicit/implicit•

good/bad• right/wrong
