Customers are increasingly requiring solutions that are based on open standards that allow them to use multiple vendors and choose best of breed solutions. The security industry has been slow to develop standards but the increasing adoption of IP as the main means of system communication is inevitably driving the market towards standard interfaces and components. Another force that is driving us to a more open security industry are organizations that are pursuing the creation and adoption of industry standards. ONVIF started two years ago as an organization focusing on standardization around IP video. ONVIF has now grown to include more than 250 member companies, representing the major camera manufacturers such as Bosch, Panasonic and Axis and a long list of video management companies. In less than two years, ONVIF has created and published standards resulting in products on the market today, from several manufacturers, that are ONVIF compliant. This is a first important step in allowing the end customer to more easily mix cameras from several manufacturers in one system. Spurred from this success, ONVIF announced earlier this spring that it was going to expand its scope to also include access control. With the overall objective to set standards in place so similar devices from different access control manufacturers can be recognized and communicated with in a unified fashion. For Pacom, it was an easy decision to join ONVIF and take an active part in driving the standardization work. We believe this is very good for the whole industry, not only the end customer, and will create a lot of new exciting opportunities ahead. CEO Introduction

The trend is clear.

With the overall objective to set

standards in place so similar devices from different access control manufacturers can be recognized and communicated with in a unified fashion.

For Pacom, it was an easy decision to join ONVIF and take an active part in driving the standardization work. We believe this is very good for the whole industry, not only the end customer, and will create a lot of new exciting opportunities ahead.

Stay tuned as we are approaching a very exciting second half year with product releases from Pacom that are paving the way for the future, showing you that we are serious about creating open solutions.

Australia’s peak security industry body, the Australian Security Industry Association (ASIAL) has recognized Pacom Systems at the 2010 Australian Security Industry Awards for Excellence by awarding the prestigious Integrated Security Solution Award. Pacom’s National Sales Manager, James Martin, accepted the award from ASIAL President, Ged Byrnes. The Integrated Security Solution award was presented to Pacom for the Royal Darwin Hospital project.

The selection of the Pacom system met the integration requirements of the Royal Darwin Hospital for access control, alarm monitoring, CCTV, fire systems, network management and a communication platform that interfaced with other sub-systems including Human Resources and Visitor Management. Pacom Feature Highlight:

GMS Geographic Maps

Support for Google Earth© has been implemented in GMS 4 as part of the alarm management application. Google Earth© allows the operator to see online geographical and satellite maps of the site for which he/she is processing an alarm event. This allows the operator to instruct emergency units to site by having the location maps activated with the Operator dialog box.

The Google Earth© support in GMS 4 is available in two different versions:

1. Google Earth© API - Fully integrated with the GMS Site Data panel.

2. Google Earth© application feature – The Google Earth© application accessible from a hyperlink in the Site Data panel.

With the Google Earth© API integration, GMS will automatically display the corresponding Google map/image of the site in a separate window. The operator can use Google Maps controls to zoom in/out, pan/tilt and change the view from Map to Satellite or Terrain.

The surrounding docking pane is resizable and it provides both horizontal and vertical scroll bars. Also, the whole Operator Instructions dialog box is resizable.

Royal Darwin Hospital; where patient safety comes first Royal Darwin Hospital have an innovative and scalable solution that can grow into the future and now classify their security system as “future proof”.

Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH) is the largest teaching hospital in the Northern Territory and is also recognized as Australia's National Critical Care and Trauma Response Center.

The hospital won international recognition for its role in the retrieval, treatment and transfer of victims of the 2002 Bali bombings. RDH treated more than 20 victims evacuated following the second Bali bombings in October 2005, and in 2006 had treated victims evacuated from East Timor.

RDH sought a replacement security system and had some unique technical complexities to overcome:

1. Replace the existing obsolete system with a solution that offered reliability, scalability and catered to future growth.

2. Install the system with minimal disruption to day-to-day activities.

3. Implement a Visitor Management System with ID badging.

4. Integration with other third party systems such as CCTV.

Pacom’s Diamond Value Added Reseller, Security & Technology Services (STS) were responsible for designing the innovative solution to suit the high-profile, mission-critical facility.

Pacom’s peer-to-peer capabilities over TCP/IP formed the basis of the system design and the Pacom Graphical Management System (GMS) software enabled integration into the various sub-systems such as HR and CCTV.

Pacom was installed at more than 200 doors across RDH, used for the elevator control, and used to integrate alarms with the IndigoVision CCTV control center via a High Level Interface.

As a result of the installation, the on-site after-hours call outs have decreased by 50% due to a reduction in false alarms.

RDH plans to leverage from Pacom’s Wide Area Network (WAN) expertise and connect more than 70 remote health clinics and nurse stations across the Northern Territory of Australia.

"The products must integrate with existing systems and provide for future growth and expansion" continued Mr White.

“Bank of Hawaii is also a great customer and we are dedicated to helping them meet their security needs" said Mr White.

Customer Profile: Bank of HawaiiPacom sat down with Diebold Hawaii Sales Manager, Mr Robert Young, to discuss Bank of Hawaii’s Pacom installed security system and the overall benefits that have helped their business.

Bank of Hawaii recently worked with Diebold to install a new Pacom access control system in its central processing area.

Bank of Hawaii is the state’s second oldest bank with assets over $3 billion and more than 160 branches in its home state plus an additional dozen in American Samoa, Guam, Palau, and Saipan.

Bank of Hawaii is a long-time customer of Pacom and has Pacom alarm, access control and use GMS as their primary management platform.

The Pacom system offers a full redundancy for each of the access control panels and the ability to monitor who enter and leaves the processing area for greater management control. Pacom provides similar control panels at all of the bank's branches and ATM locations.

“This particular install involved the replacement of an existing access control system with a new Pacom panel" said Mr Robert Young, Diebold Sales Manager in Honolulu, Hawaii.

"We have always been pleased with the reputation and performance of the Pacom product" continued Mr Young.

"It is important to Bank of Hawaii that any new system upgrade and equipment replacements are handled quickly and easily and that they do not interrupt the bank’s daily routine and overall security shield" said Mr Hugh White, VP of Sales for Pacom.

Support for third party video systems continues to growGMS DVR Module version 10.1 is now available. This release introduces support for some new video systems such as Axis and Verint, as well as updates to some existing systems like March Networks, Dedicated Micros, Mirasys, Samsung and NiceVision. This version also extends support to IP cameras which can be launched in a web browser from within GMS.

As of GMS v4.06, the ‘DVR Module’ was introduced. The new DVR modules are designed to be available independently of GMS releases. As the result of this separation, new versions of the DVR Module are released on an ‘on demand’ basis, without having to wait for the next GMS release, and not having any impact on GMS releases.

DVR support enables GMS operators to view video footage for alarms/events associated with cameras. When actioning events supporting video, the operator will receive the associated video clip, an interactive site map, a site transaction log, alarm instructions, and be able to select from a range of operator actions. A geographic map (Google, Bing, MapPoint) of the site location can also be displayed.

Any customer with GMS v4.06 or later can take advantage of these new video integration enhancements. Customers can use a combination of any or all supported video interfaces as long as the maximum number of licenced cameras in GMS is not exceeded.
