After spending time looking at all results across the cohort of grades, all teaching staff and myself are extremely proud of the growth that our students have achieved. If you would like to discuss the NAPLAN results, Mrs Peterson and myself are happy to answer any questions you may have. Attendance Education for your child is important and regular attendance at school is essential for your child to achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options. NSW public schools work in partnership with parents to encourage and support regular attendance of children and young people. When your child attends school every day, learning becomes easier and your child will build and maintain friendships with other children. Importance of arriving on time; Ensures that students do not miss out on important learning activities scheduled early in the day Helps students learn the importance of punctuality and routine Give students time to greet their friends before class Reduces classroom disruption If for some reason a student is running late, they need to come to the office accompanied by an adult. Lateness is recorded as a partial absence and must be explained by parents. Living Smart Festival If you are planning on going to the Living Smart Festival this weekend, keep an eye out for our pop up garden. Students at WWPS have been working on creating beautiful things to go into our garden including a scarecrow, gum boot plants, painted bees. I would like to thank Lynda Stephenson for all of her hard work putting this garden together and encouraging our students to think about the environment. Tell Them From Me Parent Survey Our Tell Them From Me Parent Survey helps to improve school practice by measuring engagement, well-being, classroom climate and other factors known to affect learning outcomes. All parents have the opportunity to complete this survey and provide the school with valuable information relating to the surveys key themes. Information from the survey is confidential, voluntary and participants may skip any questions they are not comfortable answering. The survey will only take a few minutes and will help us to continue delivering outstanding learning opportunities for our students. Please use the following link to complete the survey: http://nsw.tellthemfromme. com/wangi End of Term 3 Finally, I would like to wish everyone a happy and safe spring holiday break We have had a fantastic Term 3. Our students and staff have all worked extremely hard to settle into our temporary learning environments and playground spaces, with little to no impact to students’ and their learning. Please note there is NO pupil free day at the commencement of Term 4. We look forward to seeing all students and staff back at school on Monday 14th October 2019. Tim Lewis

1/2 have had such a fun filled term working with Miss Cain. We have been working very hard at our persuasive writing and have made improvements in leaps and bounds! We have achieved so many things this term and have had some really fun (and tasty) things along the way. Some of our highlights for the term included learning how to read and perform a script in drama, making phases of the moon out of Oreos, open ended maths challenges, and lots of fun new sport games. Thank you for a wonderful term 1/2’s!

THE GREAT AUSSIE BUSH CAMP

SENIOR NETBALL GALA DAY

On Friday the 20th of November, I had the pleasure of taking years 5 and 6 students to the Westlakes PSSA Senior Netball Gala Day. We had an absolutely awesome day. All students brought such positive attitudes and worked excellently as a team. WWPS was represented beautifully and all students showed fantastic sportsmanship throughout the day. They not only helped each other out, but were also giving the other schools tips and letting them know where to stand! Thank you to the families and the 5/6 boys who came down to support! A big thank you to Mrs Murphy and Megan Latham for all of your help mak-ing this day so successful! Miss Cain

NAIDOC CELEBRATIONS

Official celebrations for NAIDOC Week were held last school holidays and due to an extremely busy term were postponed at WWPS.Our school will celebrate NAIDOC Week across week 1 next term with more information to come regarding events and activities.

Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 had an amazing 2 nights and 3 days at The Great Aussie Bush Camp at Tea Gardens last week. The rain certainly didn’t dampen our fun. The Giant Swing, the Dual Flying Fox and Commando were a few of our camp highlights. Thank you to Mrs Murphy, Mr Taylor, Miss Baillache and Mrs Bubendey for organising a fantastic camp and for giving up their time.
