P&C Hampers Thank you to everyone who contributed to P&C Hampers, what an unbelievable effort from our community! 55 hampers of goods donated to the Lions Club for families in need. Words can’t describe the wonderful compassion from our community.

Playground Designs Part of our PBL (Positive Behaviour for Learning) project this year has been to brighten our playground for our students. Earlier this term, our SRC students selected items to be painted onto the playground. Yesterday the work was completed and we are all delighted by the colourful new designs.

Staffing I am very pleased to announce that through recent merit selection procedures, Stephanie Cascio and Adam Wilson have been offered and accepted the position of permanent teachers commencing in 2018 (pending the 10 day appeal period).

Ms Cascio is well known to all of us as a talented and professional teacher who brings exceptional skills in dance and has demonstrated her ability to work collaboratively in teams. Mr Wilson joins the team as a talented and committed teacher who has demonstrated his ability to coordinate whole school creative arts programs as well as coordinating a fundamental movement skill programs K-6. Adam is a talented sportsman and has coached PSSA soccer and cricket. I would like to thank Clarissa Tomlin, Shalina Donovan and Mrs Foreshew for participating on the recent selection panel.

Deployment Medallions Last Monday I had the privilege of awarding 12 very special students with Deployment Medallions. These medallions issues with a Certificate of Recognition were “For perseverance on the home front during your Dad’s deployment with the Australian Defence Force”. Many thanks to Defence Bank Holsworthy and Defence Health for sponsoring the purchase of the medallions.

Farewell Well it’s that time of year again. Time to say, “See you next posting” for many families. I have had the pleasure of assisting many wonderful students as they embrace what is Defence life and head off on their next adventure. I wish you all the very best and hope that you continue to be wonderful, kind, resilient students.

proud of their achievements. We’ve had a fun

and an enjoyable year together and have learnt

a lot. We were particularly interested in

learning a lot about our Science topic ‘Living

Things’ this semester, which resulted in our

class looking after real chickens. Thank you to

all the parent helpers and support staff for all

their assistance and help in the classroom this

year. Your help is greatly appreciated. I wish

the students all the best in Year 3, as they

enter their first year of primary school. I wish all

the families and their children a very Merry

Christmas and a safe holiday!

What a fantastic year it has been and how fast it has

gone! I would like to thank all 4K students for trying

their hardest this year. Every single student in our class

has displayed strength in their favourite subjects,

perseverance to further improve in areas of need and

growing maturity – all of which makes me feel very

proud of you.

I want to thank you for all the fun memories you have

left me. Our class item “Can I Get a Moment?” by

Jessica Mauboy was impressive and Commando Day

bought out the athleticism and will to succeed in all of

you. The Book Fair was a blast and 4K enjoyed dressing

up as their favourite characters in the school’s parade.

Class activities showed me just how clever you were

and the challenge of keeping up with your thirst for

knowledge and skills was thoroughly enjoyable.

In addition, Sport in Schools, P.S.S.A. and other health

related programs demonstrated just how committed

you all were towards this area. We also benefited from

our day spent with the grandparents of 4K students. In

addition, we gained a new appreciation for protecting

the environment through our school gardens

maintenance programs.

Come to think of it, our year has been action packed!!! I

am grateful that you have allowed me to help you this

year and I thank your parents, as well, for their support.

Thanking dearly all students, teaching staff, parents and

our teacher’s aides for contributing to furthering the

education of 4K in 2017. I wish everybody best of luck in

the future including a joyous, safe festive season and a

Happy New Year.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Mark King

2017 will be remembered as the year of the bottle toss, the fidget spinner, for slime and the dab. I asked my class to write down their highlights of 2017, their best memory of being in 5B. I got the expected responses of meeting new people and friendships that have been made and how excited they were to be in my class. I love having a colourful and happy classroom and a few kids mentioned how much they’d enjoyed the art work we’d done throughout the year. Our item that we performed was loads of fun and was also a happy memory for a couple of kids. One student said that he enjoyed learning new things and just - having a go!! It took one honest female in the class until the end of first semester to really like me and another students favorite part of the year was the view from

the top floor - which says a lot for my teaching!! Ananta's favorite thing of the year is the end of year party which we haven’t actually had yet!! We will be farewelling Chloe Pratt and Zac Sorrenson at the end of this year and I wish them the best of luck at their new school. It has been a fun 12 months and I've enjoyed spending time with you all. I encourage you all to stay curious and ask questions and I look forward to watching you further progress next year. Merry Christmas to all of my kids, enjoy this special time with your families until we meet again in 2018.

5S Final Newsletter Report.

2017 has been fun, fast and fabulous! It

doesn’t seem that long ago that we were all

in the hall awaiting the fate of which class

you would be in for Year 5. We walked to our

room and this quickly become a place where

we would share stories, work a little, talk

constantly, work a little, share many laughs

and the occasional tears. We can certainly

say that something was always happening in

5S’ room.

We would like to thank those of you who

helped us maintain our sanity – you know who

you are. Your unique personalities make

you an interesting bunch and as such we have

given each of you a new surname which

highlights our year with you.

Dear Parents and Families, Wow, what a year! To better state that- what a GREAT year! We have covered a lot of topics and participated in many fun and exciting activities. Each of your children has brought such joy and happiness to our classroom. I was so fortunate to have such a wonderful group of children this past year. My friends and family often laugh at me when I refer to your children as “my kids”. They are like my own children. They all have touched my life and this school year in very positive and rewarding ways. It has been my pleasure getting to know not only your child, but you as well. Having parental support and open lines of

communication is an essential part of any successful school year. Thank you for all you have done to make our year so fulfilling and memorable. Whilst it has been a successful year, there are some things that despite my best efforts, 5/6R have failed to learn such as,

How to walk in 2 straight lines

That the Storm are the best NRL team

That I can hear you even if you whisper

That I really do have eyes in the back of my head

That superheroes wear purple

That pink iced doughnuts can cure most

problems.

Despite these gaps in their learning, I believe

we have had a great year full of personal

growth. Thanks for the fun memories.

Have a safe and happy holiday break and I will see you in the New Year. Donna Robinson

Another fantastic year has flown past! The students in 6P have been very special individuals throughout the whole year. During Term One 6P students were taught by the wonderful Mrs Bartram while I was off getting new knees. I arrived at the beginning of Term 2 to find a fantastic group of year 6 students. 6P students have displayed amazing academic excellence, stupendous sporting skill, inspiring creative talent, incredible social expertise and many other valuable qualities. I wish them every success in the future. Highlights of the year include: Cynthia - being school captain; Chelsea - Stage 3 camp to Canberra; Harry - making new friends; Liv - having Mrs Phillips as my teacher; Aston - being with my friends in 6P; Austin - having fun in our cabin at camp; Kyle - being our class clown; Reece – reading Hating Alison Ashley; Miki – doing really well at cricket; Tim – making a paper mache pig; Brody – I’ve enjoyed knowing that I’ve improved a lot; Bailey – winning the PSSA Rugby League competition; Zak – my first camp and it was “LIT”; Liam – playing football with the Year 6 boys and winning the grand final; Jes – Australis Park with my mates; Livinia – making new Year 6 friends; Kodie – winning the PSSA AFL grand final with my year 6 friends; Ryan – PSSA oztag; Daniel

Merry Christmas to you and your families. I will miss you all. Please come back to visit. Love Ros Phillips

It always continues to amaze us just how generous our students, teachers and families are here at Wattle Grove. On Wednesday this week, we packed about 55 hampers with all of the wonderful items that were donated by our community. As we were unpacking all of the bags handed in by the students, we were absolutely overwhelmed with pride that everyone within the school took to this initiative with so much enthusiasm. The teachers and the students were all so excited at picking items to packing them into their class gift boxes. Thank you to all of the students and to the teachers who prepared the boxes and organized the cards that went with the boxes; we do sincerely appreciate the time you have spent putting this together. To all of the volunteers who assisted with organizing the donations, wrapping the donations and carrying them out the LIONS Club trailer, a huge thank you for your time on Wednesday. The LIONS Club were blown away at how organized we were and how well wrapped and packed our gifts were. Thanks to all of our school members, teachers and community, there are some local community members who will have a brighter Christmas. Best wishes to everyone for Christmas and the New Year.
