Student Safety / Parking - Before and After School A priority at Preston West Primary is student safety. I acknowledge that the streets around our school

and Preston can become very congested around drop off and pick up times. However, can I please

remind parents of the following:

Please ensure children correctly utilise the school crossings and do not cross between cars.

Please ensure you do not block our neighbour’s driveways and take note of the parking signs –

Kiss and Go zone, disable parking bays, bus zone etc.

Please don’t use the crossing or schools front gates to drop child off.

The traffic police regularly patrol the schooling zones in Preston. If parents/carers can also inform

other family members who do drop offs and pick ups of the expectations in relation to parking and

safety around the school. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation to promote the safety of our

students and pedestrians.

Staff Leave

Wendy Price will now be on leave until Monday 18th November. Grade 2P will be taught by Judi Brockley and Helen Nervosa until Wendy’s return.

First Aid Officers Special thanks to all the families who elected to make voluntary contributions to staff our first aid officers at Preston West Primary in 2019. Carol and Sandra are doing a wonderful job administering medications, treating on average 30 students per day and maintaining medical folders/records. The employment of our first aid officers has also greatly assisted our office staff in undertaking their key tasks as required by the Department of Education and Training. Thank you to those who have supported this initiative.

JUNIOR SCHOOL COUNCIL

Tomorrow October 25th 2019 is National Bandanna Day.

This is CanTeen's major fundraising and awareness campaign for

CanTeen Australia. To help support this cause, the JSC will be

selling bandannas at the beginning of term 4. The bandannas

come in a range of colours and designs and are $5 each.

It would be great to see everyone wearing their bandannas on

October 25th to support young people and their families who

have been affected by cancer.

Thank you for your support!

BYO iPad Purchasing Plan for 2020

Now that we are settled into the last term of 2019, we look forward to 2020 and all it holds for us. For next year’s Year 3 cohort, they look at the exciting prospect of being part of the BYO iPad Program. If you and your child would like to be part of the program, then all you need is an iPad no older than the 2017 iPad or 2016 iPad Pro. (This recommendation is to ensure the devices best chance of lasting through to the end of Year 6.) You can use a pre-existing iPad from home, purchase a new or used iPad or sign onto the school’s iPad Purchase Plan. The purchasing plan is a great option for families that do not want to commit to the investment of a new iPad due to the initial outlay in cost. For this reason, Preston West Primary have been working with Beyond the Box to supply devices at educational pricing. The 2020 package include:

iPad and Case

- Apple iPad (7th Gen, 2019)

o Wi-Fi o 32GB of internal storage o 10.2 inch screen o Space Grey

- MacGuy Duo Protective Case

Total price of $544.50 $100 deposit by November 15, 2019, followed by monthly instalments of $36.05 via Direct Debit.

iPad and Keyboard Case

- Apple iPad (7th Gen, 2019)

o Wi-Fi o 32GB of internal storage o 10.2 inch screen o Space Grey

- MacGuy Defender Keys (Keyboard Case)

Total Price of $614.50

$100 deposit by November 15, 2019, followed by monthly instalments of $42.90 via Direct Debit.

All deposits are to be paid at the school office. If you are interested in this package please contact myself or speak to the office as orders, with deposits, need to be confirmed by Friday 15th of November, 2019. Luke Begg Leading Teacher for eLearning
