SP LAN SPANISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE FIRST-CYCLE, COMBINED UNIVERSITY STUDY PROGRAMME This programme is designed ac- cording to the Bologna Declara- tion. The first-cycle, combined programme lasts three years (six semesters) and is worth 180 ECTS credit points in combina- tion with the second combined programme. Each of the two com- bined programmes represents exactly 50% of the study load, or 90 ECTS credit points. The com- bination of the two combined pro- grammes therefore forms a single complete study programme. This programme can be combi- ned with any of the accredited, combined study programmes. Graduates of the first-cycle pro- gramme in Spanish Language and Literature acquire knowledge and intercultural linguistic skills in correspondence with internatio- nal standards for the profile of a university graduate in a combi- ned programme in Spanish. They are able to employ acquired kno- wledge in different contexts and in a critical and flexible manner, combining it with their second subject or discipline of study. The following skills and knowled- ge offered by the programme de- serve special mention: • knowledge of the Spanish lan- guage system at all levels, • auditory, verbal, reading, and written proficiency in Spanish, • familiarity with the language contact between Spanish and Slo- PROFILE OF THE GRADUATE Graduates of the first-cycle pro- gramme in Spanish Language and Literature are eligible for emplo- yment in various fields and in various positions in which an ad- vanced proficiency in Spanish is required. The ever more internati- onal role of Slovenia is creating an increased demand for profiles from the field of Spanish language and culture in the commercial sphe- re, publishing, tourism, in public and governmental services, and at cultural institutions that maintain contact with foreign countries and Spanish-speaking clients. These tasks and assignments de- mand that graduates are capable of self-evaluation, and that they possess excellent communication and organisational skills and the motivation for continuous self- -education. Graduates in Spa- nish Language and Literature are sophisticated intellectuals who keep up with the latest de- velopments of the discipline at home and abroad, and contribute – through their work – to the pro- pagation of humanist values. If the candidate has already passed the exam in Spanish as a part of his or her Vocational Matura, he or she is required to pass an exam in any of the other General Matura courses, in which the course chosen must not be the same as any of the courses alrea- dy undertaken as a part of the candidate’s Vocational Matura. c) She or he has finished any four-year secondary educational programme before June 1, 1995.
