  1. 1. Post Apocalypticfilm Lighting
  2. 2. The road is a perfect example of setting a good mood in the opening scene. Themain reason this is mad possible is because of the lighting. The lighting in thisopening scene is very dark and dull, with a very grey colour scale. This helps tocreate the lonely, helpless feel that this film is based on.
  3. 3. This opening title sequence fits the same pattern as the road seen previously. Thejolty images and the dull greyscale colour scheme helps to create the uneasy feelthat would be felt in a zombie apocalypse, (probably) . Hardly any vibrantcolours are used as it would not fit the genre, and therefore the title sequencewould not feel serious enough.
  4. 4. Timings for opening, 00:00-04:18, lighting on this opening is also very dark. The maincolour is blue, which could conotate the feeling of loneliness. When the second half of theopening is displayed they colour appears to be a very grey scale and dull appearance withno bright colours that stand out. This could suggest that nothing is better, post apocalypse. And everyone is just as helpless as the other.
  5. 5. The pattern that arises from MOST post apocalyptic film openings is thatthe lighting is very dark and the colour scheme is very dull. This helpscreate the sad emotionless feelings of the scenes and helps the audience toconnect with the characters. The reason for this lighting is usually due to thepost apocalyptic films genre in general being based on sad events. This canbe achieved easily by using dark and dull light to represent what eventshave occurred and how people feel now.The Book of Eli for example could almost be black and white.
