Dr. K.K.S. Bhatia

President

It gives me immense pleasure to present the Fourth Annual Report of

Poornima University for the Academic Session 2017-18. The report is a

reflection of phenomenal growth and development in the areas of

academics, infrastructure and contribution of the faculty in research,

exhibiting the stupendous work done by its multidisciplinary and cross

functional team. Building upon the success achieved in Poornima Group of

Colleges in Last sessions, the University continued its voyage on the growth

trajectory towards realizing the vision with mission as envisaged by Dr. S.

M. Seth, Hon’ble Chairperson of Poornima University.

The most challenging assignment for the University of higher learning is to

attain and retain a team of qualified and experienced academicians with high

standard of excellence and it is gratifying to note that we have been able to

build an intellectually strong team working with collective strength and

commitment to achieve a sustained high level of performance.

It has been our sincere endeavor to encourage research in the University.

The faculty members are continuously motivated to enthusiastically

participate in research projects and assignments. Consequently, the faculty

and staff of University published books, 18 research papers in national and

international journals. As many as 92 Guest lectures, 4 conferences/

workshops/ seminars, etc were organized to provide a platform for exchange

of views through deliberations by the scholars par excellence.

It is my strong conviction that the youth of today need to be empowered

with emotional stability, balance and adaptability. We should instill in them

sense of values, right direction and purpose of life. Without compromising on

the quality of education, we strive to give end to end solution to mitigate the

hardships faced by the children coming from the weaker sections of society

especially the girl students. Every effort is made to enhance their

professional skills for better employment avenues and enabling them to find

a meaningful place in the society.

Along with academic activities we recognize our social responsibility and

have organized a blood donation camp and eye check-up camps and other

awareness campaigns from time to time to contribute for healthy India. Our

endeavour at Poornima University would remain to enrich the learning

experience of all its stake holders and sincerely play a prominent role in

growth and development of the nation.

Poornima University:

The sixth Annual Report presented aims to show the wide spectrum of

activities undertaken in the university and the strength reflected in its

performance during the academic session 2017-18. The Poornima University is a premier organization of higher learning

which has taken a significant lead in creation and dissemination of

knowledge through its outstanding programs and right philosophy of

education. The University was established on May 16, 2012 under the act

of Rajasthan State Legislature vide (Act No. 16/ 2012). It owes its origin

to Poornima College of Engineering which forayed into professional

education in the year 2000 with a humble beginning by offering some job-

oriented programs like B. Tech. and M. Tech. On getting overwhelming

response from the students and the people around, the sponsoring body

Shanti Education Society finally established an independent University and

christened it as Poornima University.

Poornima University: An Overview The University Grants Commission (UGC) in the year 2012 empowers the

University to award degrees U/s 22 of under Rajasthan Private

Universities Act, 1958. Presently, the University offers a wide range of

programs to meet the trained and competent manpower requirement of

the society and industries. The University by creating capacity for social,

cultural and economic development has emerged as a major player in

strengthening and diversifying the regional economy of the state of

Rajasthan. In a very short span of time it has started getting the attention

of the leading corporate for meeting their requirement of manpower. The

Our Driving Force The arduous and gigantic task of setting up of the University was initiated

by Hon’bleChairperson of Poornima University, Dr. S.M. Seth, who along

with the dynamic and energetic President of Poornima University, Dr.

K.K.S. Bhatia, strived hard to lay the foundation of world class University

and is continuously engaged in the strategic planning to create an

environment for providing not only quality education but also value added

courses along with excellent communication and employment skills, a

characteristic feature of world class University.

The Poornima University is located in Jaipur which is a lively and vibrant

city. Situated in Northern India at a distance of around 265 km south of

Delhi, Jaipur would have been a part of the Thar Desert, but for the

Aravalli Hills that provides it with much needed security from one side.

Jaipur offers a multitude of interesting places and attractions. Such as

lush parks and places for recreation. There are several magnificent places

and forts such as the City Place, Amber and Nahargarh. It is a city of fun,

food and festivals. Vibrant colors, likely folk music and dance

performances mark the celebrations of every religious occasion and every

change of season. It is, indeed, the ‘Pink City’, a heady mix of tradition &

modernity, vibrant with recreational, social as well as educational

experiences for the students. It has all the facilities and entertainment a

student needs; excellent shops, super markets, malls, restaurants, clubs,

sports facilities and a thriving cultural scene.

The University is situated in Sitapura, the education hub of Jaipur. The

main Railway Station and Bus Stand are approximately 22 km from the

University whereas the Airport is about 13 km away located at Sanganer.

Poornima University is 5 km away from Choki Dhani which is world

famous for its typical Rajasthani culture. Frequent city transport and

private transport services are available for the University from every point

of the city.

The Campus of the University is spread over an area of approximately 33

acres. It presents a spectacle of harmony in modern architecture, natural

beauty and picturesque surrounding. The campus area has been

organized into following functional sectors:

Page 33

Each course has a certain number of credits, which describe its

weightage. A student’s performance is measured by the number of

credits that he/she has completed satisfactorily. A minimum Grade

Point Average is required to be maintained for satisfactory process.

Also a minimum number of earned credits should be obtained in order

to qualify for the degree.

Every course is co-ordinated by a member of the teaching staff of the

department, which offers the course in a given semester. This faculty

member is called the Course Co-ordinator. He has full responsibility

for conducting the course, coordinating the work of the other

members of the faculty involved in that course and for holding tests

and assignments and awarding grades. For any difficulty a student is

expected to approach the Course Co-ordinator for advice and

clarification.

Grading System

The total of the Continuous Internal Evaluation (CIE), Mid Semester

Examination (MSE) and End Semester Examination (ESE) marks in

each course will be converted to a letter grade on the Ten-point scale

as per the following scheme:

Structure of grading of academic performance

The objectives of the practical training are as follows:

To prepare students physically, mentally and emotionally for the rigours

of work as executives in real organizations upon graduation.

To develop student's individual maturity, self-awareness, and confidence.

To familiarize students with some structured practical experience of the

organization, its operations, its customers, and its staff.

To enable students to exercise and acquire effective interpersonal and

communication skills in organizations.

To provide pre-professional work experience with specific assignments

and responsibilities.

To encourage/stimulate personal career interests, serving as a bridge

between university and the world of work.

To train and prepare students with knowledge and skills requirements of

current and future Industry environments.

Fake / Unfake Trainings:

TPC, PU and Departments of PU are very careful while allowing the students

to go for Industrial trgs. All possible checkpoints are there to ensure that

student is out of his comfort zone, and pursues serious trg, as this trg can be

lifetime opportunity for a student to get to know the industrial wok culture at

this stage, and turn this into internships / job opportunities in later stage.

Check Points:

1. Home town trgs not allowed

2. HOD verifies the trg company and recommends the student to TPO

3. TPO inquires the whereabouts of trg and issues NOC.

4. Student submit Trg Logbooks on coming in next semester

5. ITS Interview with a Panel of TPO, HOD & Proctor, and evaluation on

practical knowledge gained during the training.

6. Marks: If a student is found guilty of undergoing FAKE training or not

undergone any training (including not have undergone the training for

desired minimum number of days), 20 marks become ZERO.

HODs and Faculty visited students for a surprise check and real time feedback

from the first person mentoring the student at the industry. On the basis of

above checkpoints and ITS interview, few students were declared FAKE

trainees. Summary is as follows:

Following is the Training Schedule and details for session 2017-18
