Generaal Viljoen sê boere moet ook daaraan dink omdie opleiding en kwalifikasies van werknemers te verbeterdeur onder meer weer die moontlikheid van ‘n formeleopleidingskool te ondersoek.

Oor veiligheid op plase was sy mening dat daar te veelboere is wat nie nie die basiese dinge doen om hulleveiligheid te verseker nie en dat boere ook op ‘ngeorganiseerde wyse daarvoor kan sorg dat almal meerparaat is om die veiligheid van almal op plase te verseker.

Tydens die vergadering is borge ook bedank en diegeleentheid gegee om hulleself bekend te stel. Baie vandie borge het dan ook stalletjies buite die saal bedryf waarboere se vrae en antwoorde oor produkte en dienstebeantwoord is. Die dag is met ‘n vleisbraai afgesluit.

Itcould have been funny, but the presence of Limpopo MEC for Safety, Security and Liaison, Florence Radzilaniand Provincial Police Commissioner, Liuetenant General T S Mpembe at the Executive Mayor’s outreach atTaung confirmed the reporter that maybe he should lock the car. They were maybe there for a reason.

But crime and was not the only focus at Sekhukhune District the Executive Mayor Mogobo DavidMagabe’s imbizo at Taung. Representatives from the community got the opportunity to voice their concernabout various issues, such as the terrible gravel road from Praktiseer to the villiges next to the conjecture of theSteelpoort/Tubatse river and the Olifants River. The Mayor and the local mayor’s representative, replied to thecommunity’s concerns before the MEC delivered the keynote address. Also present at the imbizo was Bafanabafana assistant coach Tommy Madigage, who tragically passed away in an accident near Burgersfort over theweekend (see page 15).

Tubatse ChromeFestival ‘n groot sukses

Die Tubatse Chrome Festival wat verledenaweek by die Tubatse Chrome Clubplaasgevind het, was groter as ooit.Harde reën het beslis niemand se gees gedempnie en die area se inwoners het gestroom omna ‘n superster belaaide program kunstenaarste kom kyk. Daar was ook baie vir die kindersen uitstallers het sorg dat daar nooit ‘n verveelde

oomblik was nie.Die fees het vanaf Vrydag tot Saterdagplaasgevind. Die organiseerders van die dag hetal die borge en persone wat die dag moontlikgemaak het bedank virhul bydraes. Housolank jou dagboekoop vir volgende jaar!

The Samancor Eastern Chrome MinesEngineering Training Centre was officiallyopened by the General Manager Mr Emile Britzon 18 October 2012 by the unveiling of aplaque to commemorate the occasion. Theopening of the training centre has beennecessitated by the accreditation requirementsset by the Mining industries SETA namely theMine Qualifications Authority (MQA). Eastern Chrome Mines has achieved fullaccreditation status for engineering “On theJob” training phases on 12 November 2010for egineering disciplines namely Electrical,Boilermaking, Fitting and Diesel Mechanic.The training centre has been equipped withup to date and modern equipment to deal withthe challenges of on the job training forOperatives and Learnerships. It will also beused to develop portable skills of mineemployees.

The facility has now embarked on trainingmembers of the community within theSamancor Socio Economic area on practicalnovice Engineering Skills and short coursesconsisting of basic Electricity, Fitting andBoilermaking. The past week the local and national sportingcommunities were shocked when first assistantcoach to Bafana Bafana, Thomas Madigagesuddenly passed away in a motor accident andlater two promising rugby players. The Madigageaccident occured between Burgersfort andPolokwane. His contribution towards soccer andcommitment towards development has beenwidely hailed. His memorial service was planned

for yesterday at Sehlaku High School inDriekop.On Sunday in the early hours of themorning two local young rugby players, TiaanLessing and Richard Swart also passed awayin a motor accident. Both of them played forthe Winterveld Buffels rugby club who didextremely well this year. They will be missedon an off the field. Their memorial service washeld yesterday in Burgersfort.

The local Pro 20 cricket league will beending tomorrow when the two finalgames will be played.The Central Cowboys will take on theDestroyers for Mine League. This willstart at 12:00. The next game will beTyre Corporation playing againstTalisman for the Burgersfort Pro 20 final.The games will be hosted at LaerskoolBurgersfort’s sportsground and entrancewill be R10 per car.
