• Rain followed by clearing (especially in a light southerly flow at the surface) can lead to dense fog in the autumn.

• Spokes of showers rotating around the upper level low are difficult to time, though daytime heating can aid in vertical motions.

• Surface temperatures reflect 1000-500mb thickness decreases.
