PLOT

• Our documentary will be based on social media and will be named ‘Addiction To Social Media?’. When choosing the name of the documentary, we both asked the public which title they think is the most fitting.

• The general plot of the documentary will be based around how social media effects the public, regardless of age. We will also be getting interviews with people that have different knowledge of social media. We have done this to create an objective and balanced documentary that isn’t biased.

We then looked at the codes and conventions used in that documentary to give us an understanding of what types of conventions we could apply to ours, as it would make our documentary come across as more professional and in-depth.

RESEARCH SECONDARY QUALITATIVEFACTS• Over 5 million Facebook users are under the age of 10• Users spent $1.85 billion on virtual Facebook credits in 2012.• Facebook's population is almost 4 times greater than the USA's• Over 130 million Facebook users could be fake.• More people own a cell phone than a toothbrush. There are over 7 billion people

in the world. An estimated 3.7 billion of them own mobile phones, but only around 3.5 billion own toothbrushes.

TARGET AUDIENCE

• AGE- My target audience is for any age above 10. I believe that social media is affecting every single age group and has a large impact on many people’s lives. In my documentary, I will be interviewing both young people from the age of 12 all the way up to 66. I believe that the older generation will have an interest at how much social media is growing and how people their own age view it as the majority of senior citizens will be traditionalists and won’t want to form to the norm.

• GENDER- My target audience for gender would be both male and female. I will not have any content within it which is gender specific to widen my audience as much as possible.

FORMAT

• Our documentary will be an expository. This is because we will be talking directly to the viewer using a voice over and talking heads.

• We will be showing the reality of social media and the impact it has.• We will be exposing the impact of social media- portraying accurate

representation• The purpose of this documentary is to educate the public.

• Light hearted approach to the topic• Slow pace to provide a deeper depth of knowledge

CONSTRAINTS

• There are no copyright constraints we have/will come across when creating the documentary because we are not using the documentary for promotion or advertising, therefore the content we will be including in our documentary is fair use. E.g, facebook for into/outro

• There will also be no ethical constraints. This is because we will make sure that all of our interviewee’s and all other eligible people who were filmed, sign a release form. This gives us permission to use their footage in the documentary without problem. All the information and details of the participants will also be completely confidential, to protect their privacy.

PHYSICAL OUTPUT

• Our documentary will be outputted through YouTube.• As our documentary is about social media and we want to raise

awareness of social media • Let the public make their own opinions,• I have decided to publish this on television so that I have a wider

audience. • Some people who won’t use social media but have an interest would

not discover the documentary if published on sections like YouTube.

STRUCTURE

• The structure will be non-linear as, it does not follow a specific timeline and isn’t in a specific order.

• It also has an open narrative as it has no apparent beginning, middle or end to the documentary. Whereas If it were a closed narrative, the documentary would follow a specific order and would not be able to have a wider perspective as in open narrative.

• Our documentary will also be multi-strand. This is because there are multiple stories from the perspectives of different people and not just one person’s story. Which also makes the documentary unbiased and equal.
