Plot

The synopsis of the film is about a teenage girl who suffers from constant vivid and dramatic dreams. These dreams slowly control her and she can’t tell what is reality and what isn’t. This is left for the audience to decide if she is living in reality or a dream world.

Our plot for the opening of our thriller:• The girl is asleep under water in her bath (with clothes)• Montage of flashing images: train track, foot steps, forest,

writing uncontrollably on paper, confusing images.• Girl wakes up shocked and gasping for breath. She has a fixated

expression on her face.

Subgenre and inspiration The subgenre we have chosen is a psychological thriller. We decided to chose this subgenre because psychological thrillers are what we have interest in. Some films we have been inspired by are Donnie Darko, Shutter Island, Black Swan and Arlington Road.

Preliminary ideas about sound

We will definitely use Foley sounds in our thriller opening. These may include: footsteps, trains, whispers, rustling of leaves and ripples of water. These sounds will add tension and effect to our thriller opening.

Risk Assessment • Risks whilst filming:• Handling the camera and other filming equipment in an improper

way. (Most importantly, whilst filming the bath scene, water could make contact with the equipment so we will have to be extra cautious).

• Our main actor might not turn up; therefore we have chosen someone who is reliable enough for the role.

• The weather could be a problem as we are filming outside, so we will check the weather forecast on each day we are filming to prepare ourselves.

• Not reaching the location on time: This could affect the filming as one member may have a certain piece of equipment needed but has not turned up with it.

All above are things we will be cautious of when filming for our thriller opening.
