TINEO NAMED PITCHER OF THE WEEKMISSOULA, MONT – The Pioneer League announced that Missoula Osprey starting pitcher Marcos Tineo has been named the league’s Pitcher of the Week during July 9-15. The honor is the first for a mem-ber of the Osprey this season.

In one start, Tineo delivered a stellar outing in Idaho Falls, holding the leagues second-highest scoring offense to two hits and no earned runs. The right-hander tossed six innings with three strikeouts and no walks in his strongest start of the season.

On the year, Tineo owns a 1-1 record with a 1.67 ERA, the sec-ond-best in the Pioneer League. The 21-year-old has made five starts and logged 27 innings with 17 strikeouts and five walks. Tineo has pitched at least five innings in each start, and has hurled six frames the past two outings.

Tineo is the first Osprey player to earn a weekly Pioneer League hon-or since Eduardo Diaz was named the league’s best player for the week of July 3-9 in 2017.

Tineo and the Osprey return to action Wednesday night in Missoula vs. the Ogden Raptors to open a seven-game homestand.

For tickets to any Osprey game, visit the MSO Hub in downtown Mis-soula, call 543-3300, or log on to MissoulaOsprey.com.

MISSOULA’S OTHER PRO TEAM - THE TIMBERJACKS Before the Missoula Osprey entered the Pioneer League in 1999, the city in Western Montana had been part of the history of the League, with the five-year run of the Mis-soula Timberjacks. The Timberjacks played in the Pioneer League from 1956-60, finishing second in the league in 1958. The Jacks played as an independent in 1956 before beginning a three-season run as an affiliate of the Washington Senators. The Cincinnati Reds were the parent club of the Timberjacks in their final season, 1960. The Tim-berjacks’ best season was in 1958, when they finished second in the Pioneer League, thanks in part to the pitching of Jim Kaat, who would eventually break into the majors with the Senators. He would be the last of the Senators who moved with the team to Minnesota to retire, and also enjoyed a long career as a broadcaster.
