GRADUATES Congratulations to our 2019 graduates whom we recognized recently at Pleasant Hill:

Cara Melissa Bintrim Cara Bintrim, daughter of Timothy and Beth Bintrim, has been homeschooled and attended Saint Francis University part time. She earned 26 credits with a 4.0 GPA at SFU by the end of 10th grade, and passed the G.E.D. Cara has been admitted to Saint Francis University as a full-time student where she plans to double-major in biochemistry and biology.

Sylvia Joy Bintrim Sylvia Bintrim, daughter of Timothy and Beth Bintrim, graduates from Penn State, where she is a member of the Schreyer Honors College. She graduates summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA. Sylvia has obtained bachelor’s degrees in chemistry and mathematics with a minor in physics. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in chemical physics at Columbia University with funding from a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.

Wendelyn Fae Bintrim Wendy Bintrim, daughter of Timothy and Beth Bintrim, has been homeschooled and attended Saint Francis University part time. She earned 49 credits with a 3.959 GPA at SFU during high school and earned a Home Education High School diploma. Wendy will attend Augsburg University in Minneapolis, Minnesota, this fall to pursue a bachelor’s degree in medieval studies. She has been granted full tuition remission.

Dr. Heather Smith Heather Smith, daughter of Gerald and Donna Smith, graduated May 10th, 2019, from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Ph.D. in administration and leadership studies through the Department of Sociology. Her dissertation is titled: “From HIPAA to HITECH: A Case Study of Stakeholder Influences on the Shift in Government Response to Patient Privacy Violations.”

Madison Leigh Swick Madison Swick, daughter of Douglas and Amy Swick, granddaughter of Roger and Donna Swick and Chyerl Smith, graduates from Commonwealth Charter Academy. She has been a National Honor Society member for the past three years and was chosen as a graduation speaker for her class. Madison plans to work as lifeguard/adventure staff at Camp Harmony this summer and to attend Penn Highlands Community College for the fall semester. She will enroll at Saint Francis University next spring to pursue a career in nursing.

BACKPACK BEGINNINGS Odyssey group is collecting items for Backpack Beginnings, an organization that provides food, comfort, and clothing directly to children in need in Guilford County, NC. Donations will be sent with our delegates to Annual Conference. Please place the following items in the vestibule by June 30.

SUMMER COMMUNION We will include a bread and cup service during both of our morning worship services on Sunday, June 30. MINERSVILLE OUTREACH The Gold Team is planning an outing on Sunday, June 30, to visit with and minister to our neighbors in Minersville. We will go out and visit and deliver bags filled with treats and information about Pleasant Hill and our upcoming events, with a special focus on Vacation Bible School. Please contact the church office if you would like to help. CHURCH OF THE BRETHREN ANNUAL CONFERENCE Annual Conference will be held in Greensboro, NC this year, July 3-7. Our delegates are Pastor Rob, Pastor Jessica, and Marsha Smith. Please remain in prayer for our brothers and sisters and the conference.

CAMPFIRE NIGHT PHCoB Women’s Ministries will hold a campfire night at the picnic grove on Friday, July 12, at 7:00 PM. Women of all ages are invited. All children are welcome as well. Please bring your camp chair. We will have mountain pies, smores, campfire songs, games, and stories. MISSION TRIP Pastor Rob, Sara Swick, Denise Shaulis, and Mike Shaulis are leaving for the Dominican Republic on Sunday, July 14. They will arrive back in the states on Monday, July 22. Please keep them in your prayers. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL AND SUMMER PICNIC VBS will be held Monday thru Friday, July 29-August 2, from 9:00 AM to noon each day. Children ages 3 through 12 (just completed 6th grade) are invited to attend. The theme for this year is “In the Wild”. The Bible School Program will take place Sunday morning, August 4, followed by the Summer Picnic in the church grove where there will be food and activities for all ages.
