Concept of behavioural modification

The concept of Behaviour Modification evolved from the experimental work of B.F. Skinner.

Fred Luthans and Robert Kreitner coined the term 'Organization Behaviour Modification‘.

It is the use of empirically demonstrated behaviour change techniques to improve behaviour.

It is based on a simple idea of learning.It is rooted on the idea that behaviour

depends on its consequences.

SBI - An Overview

It began with the establishment of the Bank of Calcutta in Calcutta, on 2 June 1806.

It was the first ever joint-stock bank of the British India, established under the sponsorship of the Government of Bengal.

An Act was passed in the Parliament of India in May 1955. As a result, the State Bank of India (SBI) was established on 1 July 1955.

The State Bank of India emerged as a pacesetter, with its operations carried out by the 480 offices comprising branches, sub offices and three Local Head Offices, inherited from the Imperial Bank.

•Mr. O.P. Bhatt started his banking career as a Probationary Officer with State Bank of India in 1972.

•He is also the Head of the entire State Bank Group which consists of 8 domestic and 5 international banking subsidiaries, besides 10 nonbanking subsidiaries, and 2 Joint Ventures.

Cont….Mr. Bhatt has held a number of critical assignments first as General Manager at Lucknow, later as Chief General Manager of the Bank’s North East Circle and then as Managing Director of State Bank of Travancore, a subsidiary of the State Bank of India. A testimony to this is the number of awards conferred on the Bank and on Mr. Bhatt including the “Banker of the Year” by Business Standard and CNN-IBN Indian of the Year for Business, both in 2007.

The Bank has, under the aegis of Mr. Bhatt, steadily improved its Global ranking from 107 in 2006 to 70 in 2007 and 57 in 2008
