Community Arts Programs Coming this Fall

This fall we’re excited to offer two courses for you to take advantage of!

In September, we’ll be hosting the Tune-Up for the Soul series. This series of two workshops will be the perfect way to reconnect and re-focus after the whirlwind of summer activities. The first event on Saturday, September 13th, is a breathwork workshop with Jack Fontana; participants will learn to connect with their bodies and minds through breath during this day-long session. The following weekend - September 20-21 - will be a 2-day meditation retreat with Mary Webster, during which participants will learn about the practice of Recollective Awareness and, through practice and discussion, will focus on consciousness and letting go. We are working with local holistic health practitioners to

offer specials to people who register for the entire Tune-Up series so that you can round out your personal maintenance with more healthy living and pampering!

Also beginning in September will be our Artrepreneurship series. This series of four classes is designed specifically for local working artists in order to provide guidance and tools to help them be savvy, self-sufficient business(wo)men. The classes will be led by industry experts who will cover topics in marketing, social media, business principles, and legal considerations. This will be an intimate learning environment that artists can use to ask questions and learn how to maximize their earning potential. Those who register for all four classes will only pay $40 – a savings of 16%. Sign up soon for this limited opportunity!

Celebrate 10 Years of Blues, Brews & BBQ’s on August 1st and 2nd!

Salmon’s beloved little festival is all grown up! To commemorate ten years of killer tunes, wicked brews, and finger-lickin’ good barbeque, we’re putting on a hootenanny for the ages.

This year’s festival kicks off on Friday night with a special Art Stroll on Main Street. There will be over thirty artists exhibiting one-night-only shows in sixteen venues on and around Main Street. The Twin River Bluegrass Band will be keeping the party hopping down by the Bear, so come on out to enjoy the band and check out some great local art!

Saturday’s festival will kick off at 1:00 p.m. with live music that will last all day – as we say every year, this party won’t stop ‘til the sun sets! 15 brewers from Idaho, Montana, and Colorado are coming to introduce you to their wares and local barbequers and cooks extraordinaire will tempt you with their delicacies. And, new this year, we’ll have a whole host of kids’ activities from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. to make sure the whole family has a blast!

Event Schedule:1pm The Godfrey Guys * 2:15 pm Shania Fitte and Friends * 3:30 The Trail Benders * 5:00 Kenny James Miller Band * 7:00 Bill Magee Band

Take advantage of our reduced price pre-sale tickets available on our website through July 31st! Tickets are $12.50 to SAC members 21+ and $15.50 to general public. Tickets will be available at the event for $14 to SAC members 21+, $17 to general public 21+, $8 to ages 13-20, and free to kids 12 and under (with paying adult).

The 2014-2015 season kicked off July 1st and, almost immediately, we hit the ground running with our first Summer Art Stroll on Main Street and presentation of the Montana-based band,

Joan Zen. But we’ve only just begun! This season you can jam to Philadelphia rockers, Hoots and Hellmouth; marvel at the acclaimed modern dance troupe, Repertory Dance Theatre of Utah; enjoy the artistry of Steinway pianists, Robert Henry and Spencer Myer; dance the night away to Hillfolk Noir at the annual Nightcalvers’ Ball; and tap your toes to the female Americana trio, Moira Smiley + VOCO.

In the performing arts, we’ll be welcoming back Montana Shakespeare in the Parks and Missoula Children’s Theatre and, new this year, we’ll be hosting an evening of dinner theatre featuring the Missoula Community Theatre’s “Bits and Pieces” troupe. And we have several classes to keep you engaged and learning through the year – from business classes for artists to African cooking, there will be learning opportunities for everyone!

New this season, we are offering reduced-price presale tickets for all of our events through our website – make sure to take advantage of the savings by visiting www.salmonartscouncil.org! What’s happening at the SAC now through October:
