Merck Ltd fell 5.1% to Rs 1037 after the company reported 34% decline in its net profit in December quarter to Rs 18.20 crore against Rs 27.54 crore a quarter ago. Sanofi India Ltd fell 2% to Rs 4080 after the company reported 7.6% decline in its net profit to Rs 297 crore in December quarter against Rs 321.50 crore a year ago. Shares of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) tanked over 5% on the BSE on news reports the state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) may acquire HPCL in an about Rs 44,000 crore deal as part of the government's plan to create an integrated oil giant. . The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has projected India's economy to grow 7 per cent in the current financial year and rise gradually to 7.3 per cent in the next year and 7.7 per cent in 2018- 19. Life Insurance Corp locked in an impressive 68% jump in profits, about Rs 16,000-crore, from equity sales in the first nine months of the financial year. Last financial year, the corporation had earned a profit of Rs 9,500 crore from equities in the same period. European shares edged higher on Tuesday after encouraging earnings releases, with Meggitt leading the market up after reporting a sharp rise in profits and Ferrovial also advancing after results news. Crude oil edged higher on Tuesday, underpinned by high compliance with Opec's production cuts even as the market remains anchored by rising US production. Gold prices held steady on Tuesday after falling from a 3-1/2 month high in the previous session, with investors looking towards a speech later in the day by US President Donald Trump for more clarity on his economic policy. Infrastructure needs in developing Asia and the Pacific will exceed $22.6 trillion through 2030, or $1.5 trillion per year, if the region is to maintain growth momentum, according to a new flagship report by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) have bought shares worth Rs 9,359.49 crore on a month-to-date basis till February 27. LIC, the country's largest institutional investor, is wary of equities. The corporation's equity investments barely increased during the current fiscal, despite a 40% jump in new business premium. Shares of Transformers and Rectifiers (TRIL) jumped in Tuesday’s trade after the company the company said that it has bagged an order for supplying of 39 transformers and reactors. The order has been awarded by Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation and is valued at Rs 153 crore. Most Asian currencies were trading lower. News: To promote its flagship Make In India programme, the government is

proposing its own version of the US’s Buy American policy through a national government procurement policy, according to a government official familiar with the plan. The policy being considered involves purchases of Rs2 trillion a year but doesn’t include defence equipment.

Now, Delhi HC will have to adjudicate RBI’s objections to Tata’s application to buy back Docomo’s stake at Rs58.5 a share.

Gross domestic product will expand 6.8% in the year through March—the slowest pace since 2014 but still among the fastest in the world—according to the median of 29 estimates in a Bloomberg survey of economists before an official forecast due Tuesday.

Flipkart-owned online fashion retailer Jabong aims to grow sales by at least 40% in the next fiscal year, driven mainly by advertising, sales from newer brands and the introduction of private label brands owned by sister company Myntra.

Shares of Aditya Birla group’s Idea Cellular Ltd on Tuesday fell sharply after it witnessed a series of block deals in which around 120 million shares or 3.3% stake of the company changed hands. However, details of buyers and sellers were not known.

India is planning to sell a majority stake in Air India, the country’s national carrier, to a strategic partner in a bid to turn around the loss making airline.

Dairy company Danone India Pvt. Ltd, which also sells Farex baby food and Protinex supplements that it acquired from Wockhardt Ltd, is looking to cut costs and double its revenue in the next three years. Danone India plans to plough back its cost savings into advertising and marketing, managing director Rodrigo Lima said.

India's decade-long wait for a national sales tax that will create one of the world's biggest single markets could be almost over by July 1. As per economic affairs secretary Shaktikanta Das the Goods and Services Tax (GST) will be implemented by July 1 and not later as feared earlier on.

Buoyed by pick up in demand, India's 12 major ports saw cargo traffic increase by 7.14 per cent to 535.35 million tonnes (MT) during the first 10 months of the current fiscal. These top ports under the Centre had handled 499.68 MT cargo during the April-January period of the last fiscal.

Pharma major Lupin Ltd has received final approval from the USFDA to market sodium sulfate, potassium sulfate, magnesium sulfate oral solution used in treatment of a form of cancer.

India should bring down corporate tax rate to 25 per cent, introduce inheritance tax and provide certainty in rules, global think-tank OECD said today, taking the line that demonetisation will benefit the economy in the long run.

Hindalco Industries (HIL), the flagship company of Aditya Birla Group, has received the environment clearance for setting up of a new cast copper rod plant in Gujarat's Bharuch district at a cost of Rs 240 crore.

India's Tata Sons Ltd has agreed to pay Japan's NTT DoCoMo about $1.17 billion in connection with the termination of a joint venture in the South Asian nation, the Nikkei daily reported, without citing its sources.

With refinancing of infrastructure projects gathering steam, L&T Infra Debt Fund (L&T IDF), a refinancing unit, is raising about Rs 2,500 crore through debentures to provide liquidity for road and renewable energy projects..
