The market on Friday extended fall for the second straight session as investors booked profits after a sharp rally that lifted the benchmark indices to near two-year highs in the previous session. The negative trade in Asian markets, which slipped on expectations of a US interest rate hike in March, also weighed on sentiment. Apollo Hospitals Enterprise fell 5% to Rs 1245 after a unit of Malaysian sovereign fund Khazanah launched a block deal to sell $160 million worth of shares in the company. Among gainers, GAIL (India) jumped over 3% to Rs 520 after the state- run gas company signed a time-swap deal with Swiss trader Gunvor to sell some of its US liquefied natural gas (LNG) as the Indian firm tries to ease the burden of its costly foreign LNG supplies. The stock was the leading Sensex gainer. Reliance Industries (RIL) rose over 4% to Rs 1,288 in intraday trade after the company informed that entities forming part of the promoter group of the company intend to acquire from other promoter group entities by way of ‘inter-se’ transfer aggregating up to 1,190 million shares of RIL. The scrip settled the trade at Rs 1,259, up 2%. Shares of sugar companies were back into action with most of the stocks ending higher in the range of 5% to 12% in an otherwise weak market. Dhampur Sugar Mills, Parrys Sugar, Dwarikesh Sugar Industries, Kesar Enterprises, Oudh Sugar Mills, Upper Ganges Sugar, Mawana Sugars, Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries and Ugar Sugar Works rallied up to 11% in intraday trade. A chorus line of Fed officials singing of the need for higher rates has seen the implied probability of a move this month shoot to 74 percent, from just 30 percent at the start of the week. The seventh tranche of the sovereign gold bond scheme is going to close on Friday. The issue price of these bonds was fixed at Rs 2,893 per gm. The scheme opened for subscription on February 27. Shares of FCS Software (down -16.67 per cent) , Tata Tele (down -6.32 per cent) , Essar Shipping (down -5.48 per cent) , Infinite Comp (down - 5.48 per cent) , Gokul Agro Resources Ltd. (down -5.44 per cent) , GOL Offshore (down -5.26 per cent) , Neuland Labs (down -5.23 per cent) , Celestial Bio (down -5.16 per cent) declined up to 17 per cent in trade on Friday. Credit Suisse has maintained outperform rating on Tata Motors after arm Jaguar Land Rover launched its fourth model the Range Rover brand called Velar. Shares of VLS Finance (up 5.03 per cent) , Peria Karamalai (up 5.19 per cent) , TT Ltd (up 5.21 per cent) , Transwarr Fin (up 5.24 per cent) , HOV Services (up 5.40 per cent) , Bharti Infratel (up 5.43 per cent) , Orbit Exports (up 5.55 per cent) , D-Link (India) (up 6.20 per cent) , Uttam Value Steel (up 7.14 per cent) and Accel Frontline (up 7.36 per cent) rallied over 5 per cent intraday during the day. IIFL Institutional Equities has raised target price on YES Bank by 30% to Rs 1,690 citing high visibility on earnings growth. "Issuance of new equity capital will likely provide a fillip to earnings growth, driven by a strengthening deposit franchise, sustained market share gains in corporate banking, and diversification of revenues," said IIFL in a note to clients today. The brokerage has a buy rating on the stock. European stock markets deflated at the start of trade on Thursday, with London's benchmark FTSE 100 index losing 0.3 per cent to stand at 7,363.08 points. News: World Bank CEO Kristalina Georgieva pegs India’s GDP growth rate at 7%

After four months on a selling spree, the foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) turned net buyers in equity markets. FPIs bought equity and debt assets worth $ 1.48 billion in Feburary. Between October 2016 and January 2017, they sold equities and debt worth $ 4.71 billion.

The 10-year Treasury yield was flat after climbing for the past four days and gold edged lower.

Saudi Arabia continued to lead OPEC’s efforts to cut production, helping the organization get closer to a goal set out in a historic accord last year.

Riyadh lowered oil supply by 90,000 barrels a day from a month earlier to 9.78 million in February, according to a Bloomberg News survey of analysts, oil companies and ship-tracking data. It was the second month in a row that the world’s biggest crude exporter pumped below its own target of 10.06 million barrels a day.
