Brokerage firm CLSA has initiated coverage on Astral Poly with ‘Buy’ rating with a target price of Rs 545. Retail companies trading higher ahead of the Rs1,870-crore initial public offering (IPO) of Avenue Supermarts Ltd, parent of D-Mart. Future Retail Ltd rose 4%, Shoppers Stop Ltd rose 2.4%, V-Mart Retail Ltd rose 2.5%. Shares of metal companies were under pressure and quoting lower for second straight trading sessions on the bourses on profit booking. NMDC, Jindal Steel & Power (JSPL), Vedanta, National Aluminium Company, Hindalco Industries and Tata Steel were down in the range of 2% to 4% on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). Gail (India) hit a fresh 52-week high of Rs 534, up 2% on BSE in an otherwise subdued market as the stock will turn ex-bonus in the ratio of 1:3 on Thursday. The board of directors of the state-owned company at their meeting held on January 25, 20017 had recommended the issuance of one bonus share of Rs 10 for existing three equity shares of Rs 10 each fully paid up. Shares of V-Mart Retail hit the upper circuit of 20% at Rs 873, also its new high on the BSE, as the initial public offering (IPO) of Avenue Supermarts which operates retail supermarket chain DMart open for subscription today. The rupee opened at 66.63 a dollar. At 9.15am, the home currency was trading at 66.64, up 0.06% from its previous close of 66.67. The 10-year bond yield was at 6.835% compared to its Tuesday ’s close of 6.829%. Asian currencies were trading higher. Japanese yen was up 0.16%, Taiwan dollar 0.14%, Indonesian rupiah 0.11%, Singapore dollar 0.1% and Philippines peso 0.07%. However, Thai baht was down 0.09%. 1.97%. ONGC, TCS, HDFC Bank, GAIL, PowerGrid, L&T, ITC Ltd, Hind Unilever and Wipro also rose. Among BSE sectoral and industry indices, metal fell the most 1.79% followed by auto, healthcare and realty.
