In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

The idea for the opening argument came from the opening scene of Eamon’s video for the song ‘I don’t want you back’. Despite the themes of these two songs being different this gave us an idea to set up the story for our music video. However we challenged this by changing the setting to a house and made it more appealing to the audience as more people can compare there own experiences to having an argument in a home.

Throughout the video for Eamon’s song ‘I don’t want you back’ he always see’s couples wherever he goes. This particular idea we decided to use as it reminds Chaise of what he has lost. We challenged this convention by making him walk past the couple looking depressed and them disappearing as he goes past to make it seem like it was on his mind, or he was imagining seeing them there.

The image on the left is from Examples video for his song ‘Two lives’ on the right is our take on this idea for our music video. We challenged this form by making the girl more visible to make it clear who he had moved on to. However in Examples video it is not clear who this person is. In both these videos this scene comes at the end, the timing of this is very important as it shows the main character moving on to a new relationship and the same for Example.

Throughout our video we used lip synching with just Chaise as he is the main singer. Many videos use the lip synching to make their video look professional. We also followed a narrative structure to give our video a story and a meaning behind the story. The meaning will appeal to our audience as the theme is relationships, love and moving on from past loves.
