Bright colourful masthead is

conventional to the pop magazines

A line in-between each cover line is conventional to most pop magazines

Bold, plain fonts are conventional to pop

The barcode is always in the bottom right hand

conventional to Pop magazines such as Q

The main picture is on the right hand side which

is conventional to this genre

The main Cover story is bold and in a different font to the cover lines which is conventional to the pop

genre

The date, issue number and price is always around the masthead in pop

magazines

The background colour is conventional to the

genre as it make the front cover stand out

The route of the eye (in black) have been used which is conventional to the pop genre. You see the masthead first then the picture and the

cover lines and final the main cover story

The rule of thirds (in orange) has been used which is conventional to the pop genre. You see all the content and the subjects face in in the centre of the page so it catches your eye. Also the masthead and cover story are seen in the rule of thirds

The use of the cover lines being on the left third is

conventional for most pop magazines

Q magazine Front cover analysis

The Masthead in the top left cover to show the audience what the magazine is called. The red background and the white letter ‘Q’ is conventional for this magazine

The Cover story is bold and stands out from the whit bland background behind it. This means that the readers can see the cover line and that they can identify that The Prodigy are the main band on this edition

The text is in Sans Serif font meaning the audience can read it clearly and it stands out for the reader.

The Layout of the magazine is ordered which makes it easier for the reader to read and take in the information. The ordered and clear information is placed around the which means it is easier to read

The main image is a long shot the artist from a square on level. This shows the audience that the is aggressive because of the crack in the floor and the angle of the shot. This makes the image more intimidating and tells the reader a story through the aggressiveness of the image

The route of the eye and rule of thirds is used well in the magazine. The Masthead, the cover lines and the main image are all seen during the process of the route of the eye. The rule of thirds isn’t specifically used within this front cover however the main articles and points are all within the rule of thirds areas and key points.

This front cover is conventional because it has a clear and distinctive layout with a bold single image on the front cover. The rock and pop industry are much the same and the types of typography are also the same so they attract the same type of target audience
